Morning fist pump. Evening 'all's well that ends well.'
A cup of coffee.
Grateful to have safely welcomed another morning, I start my day.
Starting tonight, I had planned a 'weekend getaway.' I left the house earlier than usual, and the bus arrived at the perfect time! I gave a small fist pump, cheering myself on with, 'Things are going well, this is a good omen.'
……However, that sense of exhilaration was short-lived.
What arrived on my phone was a message from my travel companion about a 'same-day cancellation.'
'Wait, at this timing……!?'
For a moment, everything went dark before my eyes. Even as I told myself, 'Stay calm, take a deep breath,' my heart wouldn't stop pounding.
A sense of aimless, mild anger welled up, and without the energy to confront them, I simply pressed the cold, inorganic cancel button. I chewed on the sadness of how easily plans can vanish these days.
I wanted to switch into work mode, but my heart felt restless and unsettled.
Feeling pathetic and thinking, 'I'm being so immature,' I decided to walk around the office.
Taking each step firmly, I looked up at the vast sky. It was a time to tell myself, 'Get a grip, me!'
Instead of forcing myself to lift my dampened spirits, I just walked.
That short walk gradually healed my heart.
'I can't change the fact that it happened. Let me focus on what I have now.'
Once I sorted that out, things progressed smoothly after returning to my desk, and by the afternoon, I had completely regained my usual rhythm.
I was able to focus on my work, and by the end of it, I had achieved some solid results.
In the end, I realized once again that everything depends on one's 'state of mind,' and the only things that can change that are one's own thoughts and actions.
It was a day that felt like I'd been hit with a heavyweight punch from the morning, but all's well that ends well.
While praising myself for getting through this tumultuous day, I think I'll get some good rest tonight.
The plans may have changed, but I am grateful for this refreshing conclusion.
Now, let me start my own kind of weekend from here.
