Narimasu Station becomes 'Narimosu' for Mos Burger's 50th Anniversary
The Tobu Tojo Line.
It is a line that connects Ikebukuro to Yorii in Saitama.
Since I used it as my commute route during my student days,
I have a certain attachment to it.
On that Tojo Line, one stop from Ikebukuro by express
is a station called Narimasu.
This place is famous as the hometown of
Takaaki Ishibashi from Tunnels.
There isn't anything particularly special there,
and I have almost never gotten off there myself, but
it is the first stop for express and semi-express trains leaving Ikebukuro,
and despite being able to reach Ikebukuro in about 10 minutes, the rent is reasonable,
so it has a strong impression of being a 'livable town'.
That Narimasu is thebirthplace of Mos Burgeris a fact I only recently learned.
For about a month starting this March 8th,
to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mos Burger's birth,
they are collaborating with Narimasu Station, where the first store is located.
They are running an extremely unique PR campaign where 'Narimasu' Stationbecomes 'Narimosu' Station for a limited time.
As mentioned in this article, they are running a campaign full of playfulness, such as actually
changing the station name sign to 'Narimosu',running the
'Mos Train' on the Tojo Line, extensively deploying in-train advertisements, and offering a special menu at the first store, renamed from Narimasu store to
'Narimosu store'.
As expected, since it has plenty of buzz,
it was picked up by many media outlets, including Yahoo! News.
It would certainly fall into the category of a huge PR success.
Using station names for PR material is something that happens
quite often besides 'Narimosu'.
The exam season just ended, but
many people should know that every time the season comes around,'Gokaku' (Pass) Stationbecomes a hot topic.
Recently, it has become common to place disinfectant everywhere due to COVID measures,
but Ochanomizu Station stole the spotlight by setting up a playful corner
inside the station premises.
It is named
'Shodoku' (Disinfectant) Station.
The fact that there are stations with the same names as era names
is also quite interesting.
Believe it or not,Taisho Station, Showa Station, and Heisei Stationactually exist,
and it was a topic of conversation whether a Reiwa Station might be built eventually.
Just recently, on February 22, 2022,
it seems quite a few people bought 220-yen tickets at ticket machines
aiming for 2:22 or 22:22,
but I feel that buying tickets with station names like 'Showa -> Heisei' or 'Taisho -> Showa'
is also a rather tasteful pursuit.
SuchPR activities are basically focused on how to gain 'awareness'.
Because without 'awareness',without people knowing about it,
it is unlikely to lead to them buying products or services.
And if you want to gain 'awareness',
whether it is a dad joke like in this example or something else,
'standing out is winning',and
'standing out is value'.I even finished with a dad joke myself.
