Introduction to the Popular Piano Arrangement Series
(Updated 2021.12.13)
This time, I would like to introduce the sheet music "Popular Piano Arrangement Series" released by Piascore. (Click here for the full sales list)
This series features three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Some songs span multiple levels, so I hope you can choose the one that best suits you as a player.
Now, I will introduce the arrangements in the series along with some brief notes.
For those that have reference audio, please be sure to take a listen!
Beginner (5 songs)
A song sung in the Disney movie "Snow White," also famous as a jazz standard. While it incorporates stylish jazz harmonies, I finished it with a simple, lovely image using fewer notes.
An Irish folk song. Also known by the title "Danny Boy."
This is a short arrangement with a transparent, hymn-like quality.
An arrangement of the English folk song "Greensleeves." It incorporates a melancholic atmosphere within its simple sound.
Originally a hymn, it is now sung by many artists across all genres. Although it uses few notes, it includes an interlude and an ending, making for a fulfilling composition.
A classic song from the Disney movie "Pinocchio." It is a simple and easy-to-play arrangement.
Intermediate (6 songs)
This is an arrangement with the image of a soft ballad. Although the chord colors are richer than in the beginner level, I think it is not too difficult for an intermediate level.
This one was arranged with a gospel-style image. Jazz harmonies envelop the whole piece, but the sound becomes particularly thick in the second half.
When I Fall In Love
The original title is "When I Fall In Love," and it is a beautiful slow ballad. It is known as a jazz standard and has been covered by many artists, including Doris Day, Nat King Cole, The Carpenters, and Celine Dion.
This arrangement includes delicate movements typical of the piano, but it is characterized by a dashing sense of speed. It has the image of a beautiful sound, like classical music.
The first half has a relaxed, music box-like atmosphere, while the second half is a light swing. (Audio source currently in production)
I have added a blooming expansion of sound to the intro, interlude, and ending. The vocal part has harmonies that change in some detail, so this is an arrangement where I would like you to carefully savor the changes in the sound.
Advanced (4 songs)
It starts simple, but gradually the sound becomes thicker and more pianistic. Also, since there are melodies in the inner voices and detailed passages, I would like those who are confident in their skills to definitely try it.
It consists of theme -> interlude -> theme (second half), but the interlude is original. I hope you will freely expand your imagination from the atmosphere.
I have put it together in a jazzy atmosphere. Since it is a ballad, I hope you will play it while valuing natural breathing. (Audio source currently in production)
This is an arrangement of the first piece from Erik Satie's "Three Gymnopedies." While retaining the ennui of the original, I have slightly altered the harmonies.
I hope you enjoy playing it with a jazz-like feel.
(A version for solo instrument with piano accompaniment is also available with a similar arrangement.)
This is a grand arrangement with a significant contrast between the quiet and dynamic sections. (Audio recording currently in production)
