Ancient Maya Calendar: The 13-Day Cycle Starting June 2nd
About the Ancient Maya Calendar
Until now, I have been writing about the daily glyphs, the flow associated with those glyphs, and things to do or be mindful of on those days, but
from now on, I would like to first introduce the larger 13-day cycle, and within that, write about the days with glyphs that catch my attention.
In the ancient Maya tradition, it was believed that time progresses in waves of 13 days.
While there are themes for each individual day, there is also a larger flow for the entire 13-day period.
By first understanding the overall flow, it becomes easier to grasp the meaning of each day. Just as there are four seasons in a year,
each 13-day period also has its own distinct theme.
From now on, I will be delivering information on both the 13-day flow and
the daily glyphs together.
So, here is the first 13-day period starting on June 2nd.
The 13 days starting with Chuwen are a period of "creation" and "playfulness."
Rather than starting something entirely new, this is a time to reconnect your past experiences, things you have loved, and events that have stayed in your heart in a new way.
Instead of seriously searching for answers, try to relax a little and follow what seems "interesting."
