[Introduction of 3 Exhibited Works] Seiji Abe Solo Exhibition "DELIVERING SMILES, HAPPINESS BLOOMS —Welcome to a World of Peaceful Twinkle—"

We will be holding the Seiji Abe Solo Exhibition "DELIVERING SMILES, HAPPINESS BLOOMS —Welcome to a World of Peaceful Twinkle—" at Picaresque Gallery from Wednesday, May 14 to Sunday, May 25, 2025.
This time, we asked Seiji Abe about holding this solo exhibition and about the three works that will be on display. We hope you will take a look.
From the Artist: On Holding This Solo Exhibition
"Peaceful Twinkle World." It is a gently sparkling world where mysterious creatures live.
Regular members like ao zo and yeti are also residents there. The star of this exhibition is Mitsu the honeybee, who uses mysterious magic!
Let's set off on an adventure with Mitsu to deliver flowers and smiles to everyone!
Mitsu's garden

By defining the world of my works as the "Peaceful Twinkle World," I feel that the lives of the unique and mysterious creatures I create, such as ao zo, yeti, and kame, can reach everyone's hearts more vividly. By clarifying the personality of each creature and the worldview they share, I hope that the stories I want to convey through my works can be understood more deeply.
In the "Peaceful Twinkle World," laid-back yet heart-fluttering events unfold every day. In this solo exhibition, I am focusing on a story featuring Mitsu the honeybee as the protagonist. Mitsu sets off on a heart-fluttering adventure with a wand imbued with mysterious power. The colorful magic released from that wand changes everything it touches into a bright and fun feeling, and even changes their appearance. This story of Mitsu's magic and adventure connects to the theme I want to express throughout this exhibition: "Delivering Smiles, Happiness Blooms —Welcome to a World of Peaceful Twinkle—".
This painting is a work that depicts the lively figure of the protagonist, Mitsu, symbolizing the very beginning of the story. Just watching Mitsu the honeybee spending time happily in a garden where colorful flowers bloom makes my heart leap. Among my works to date, I particularly like this one because it has a pop color palette and strongly expresses a bright and positive atmosphere. Also, by making ample use of phosphorescent paint, which is a major feature of my work, the garden, which is full of vivid colors during the day, transforms at night to emit a fantastic light, making one imagine a liveliness different from the daytime. I would be happy if you could feel the multifaceted charm of the "Peaceful Twinkle World" through this work, which has different expressions during the day and at night.
flower queens

When Mitsu's mysterious wand shines, a new light is lit in the "Peaceful Twinkle World." It is the birth of five flower queens with flowers as their motifs. Just as no two flowers are the same, their dresses are full of individuality, and their presence gently envelops the world.
Just like ao zo and yeti, the existence of a queen is a special source of inspiration for me. The time I spend imagining their gentle forms and the patterns of their dresses is a special time. I drew free and delicate patterns for these flower queens as well. Perhaps the reason I am drawn to queens rather than kings is my deep respect for women.
hana zo ed.1/10

My icon, ao zo, has transformed into the adorable hana zo, adorned with flowers on its body thanks to Mitsu's mysterious magic. ao zo is usually characterized by a deep, absorbing blue, but this time, by daring to use colors slightly different from usual, I feel that new charm and possibilities have blossomed. Through this change, I have recognized the expressive possibilities of ao zo once again, and I have received new inspiration myself.
