[Exhibition Commentary] Mosa-Mosa Solo Exhibition: "Randomly Lost"

Mosa-Mosa Solo Exhibition: "Randomly Lost" will be held at Picaresque Gallery from Wednesday, July 22 to Sunday, August 2, 2026.
This time, we asked Mosa-Mosa about the 10 works on display.
Please enjoy.
Please introduce yourself.
I am Mosa-Mosa. Based on an Asian-retro and chaotic worldview, I create three-dimensional works using stone powder clay and write stories. I create a series called "Slightly Bitter Friends," which gives form to the pain felt by clumsy characters and a somewhat nostalgic warmth. While spinning stories of the world where these friends are active, such as "This might be fried rice," I deliver works that gently snuggle up to the undigested emotions of the viewer.
Please tell us about the concept of this exhibition.
At 10:00 AM, the unpredictable new heroine, "Mandora-boy," appeared from a potted plant that fell off a light truck. Chasing after her, Yani's mysterious and slightly bitter adventure begins. It is a record of being randomly lost, meeting unique friends in back alleys. Please come to the venue to see the conclusion of this small story, depicted through bande dessinée-style pencil drawings and three-dimensional works.
Could you tell us the concept of the works you are exhibiting?
Exhausted

Yani wandered around town chasing Mandora-boy. Yani had been in a state of tension and impatience the whole time, but finally, under the care of Popo, a reliable friend, Yani sees the boy snuggled up and sleeping peacefully. The moment Yani saw that peaceful sleeping face, the taut string snapped, and relief spread through Yani's heart. To Yani, who is looking a little far away after being exhausted from hard work: You really did a great job.
Once I felt relieved, the fatigue set in.

Yani is a creature that cannot speak, but rich emotions are conveyed through its expressions and gestures. This day spent chasing the boy was an overly harsh adventure for the delicate-hearted Yani. Now that the adventure is finally over and Yani has seen the boy return home safely, Yani must be deeply relieved. To the sight of Yani, whose taut string has snapped and who is resting quietly, I offer a heartfelt "Thank you for your hard work."
Mandora-boy has arrived

In the cramped planter, part of an overloaded mountain of cargo, the boy was fast asleep. However, the moment the truck shook violently on a rough road, the fasteners came off and the tailgate collapsed. With the impact, the boy was thrown onto the asphalt. Forcibly ripped from his dream and slammed onto the road surface, the boy's anger is about to explode at this worst possible awakening.
No one can decide what is right, can they?

Popo snatches a pacifier from a sleeping unicorn child and offers it to the wailing Mandora-boy. The commotion has subsided and peace has returned to the town, but the heart of the unicorn child, who had it snatched away defenselessly, cannot be at peace. Is it an imposition of goodwill, or just a whim? Either way, the logic that "you must not take other people's things" remains unchanged even in this mysterious town.
Three hours late

Ramune-kun and his friends gathered with only the promise to "meet in front of the public bath." They certainly didn't get the location wrong, but due to the large grounds and the shadows of the entrance, it seems they kept having near-misses in the exact same spot. Waiting for each other, three hours passed in the blink of an eye. The two, who hadn't been able to meet face-to-face, were able to notice each other thanks to Yani and Mandora-boy. It is a scene of a rather foolish and lovable misunderstanding.
Playing at counting bubbles

Sea Beast-kun's home is at the bottom of a quiet pond. What keeps him more engrossed than the latest game console is the game of counting the bubbles that rise to the surface. The delicate heartbeat of one bubble popping and disappearing, then another. That monotonous and calm time is more exciting and precious to him than anything else. Please take a peek into the mysterious daily life of Sea Beast-kun, who expands his world beyond the bubbles.
(How are you doing?)

Ramune-kun looks up at you with eyes full of charm. Everyone is captivated by his adorable gaze, which seems to ask, "How are you?" In fact, Ramune-kun has a secret: his arms are a bit short, so he can't reach them even if he tries to cross them. Even this slightly clumsy gesture has become an irresistibly lovable charm point.
Private Time, Sea Beast-kun

Sea Beast-kun lives at the bottom of a quiet pond. What Sea Beast-kun is most passionate about is the game of counting the bubbles floating on the water's surface. However, he can only count up to 10, so he has to start over from 1 every time. It seems he even enjoys the fact that he can't remember the rest. This is a peaceful three-dimensional piece that captures the slow, relaxed time underwater and Sea Beast-kun's adorable memory.
Bob, the Ketchup Who Loves Swings

For Bob the Ketchup, the park swing is not just playground equipment. It is a thrilling spectacle that he calls the "Hillside Rollercoaster." The fleeting sensation of floating as he cuts through the wind and is thrown toward the sky—for Bob, that view is an adventure more exciting than any ride. Please take a look at his grand adventure as he swings with all his might.
Somehow, it's hard to say goodbye

When you look back on happy times, saying goodbye can be heartbreaking. But strangely enough, when you meet a good friend while feeling that loneliness, the world is instantly filled with joy again. Yani carries the fluctuations of emotions that come with repeating the cycle of meeting and parting, and sometimes forgetting. Right now, it is a time of lingering attachment.
Could you please give a message to the customers and everyone planning to visit?
It started with a potted plant that fell off a light truck, leading to a random, lost adventure. At the venue, please try walking through the world of Yani and their mysterious, "slightly bitter friends" with the feeling of having stepped into a picture book. I would be happy if this could be a place where you can stop for a moment and take a deep breath in the midst of your busy days. I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
