Grassroots Sales
The time after class is for communicating with the teachers!
It was a drinking party with Professor Tomino from the Barber Department, who coordinated everything, and Professor Konno from the Beauty Department, whom I met for the first time. This is the real thrill of it, isn't it?
Apparently, the restaurant we went to in Obihiro this time belongs to a junior colleague from when Professor Konno worked part-time at a sushi place.
Anyway, regarding my impression of Obihiro city: during the day, there are many tourists, especially older travelers, and since everyone seems to be heading out from Obihiro Station to some famous spot, I felt the city was quiet...
But at night...
People come out in droves! 💦
It's amazing! It suddenly became a bustling downtown area!
Obihiro is actually a night town, it seems!
The impression is so different that I've come to like Obihiro even more! ❣️
Now, I wonder what the feedback on my class was??
I was hoping that even a few students would find it appealing or see the potential in it, and that they would find the work of a barber interesting, but surprisingly, it seems they found it quite interesting.
Well, I'm sure it was mostly just polite talk, but I feel like I got a good response!
So, I'll just take that as a win.
The two teachers are 26 and 31 years old, so I started out wondering if they would even find it fun to drink with me.
But both of them talked about all sorts of things, which was very helpful.
Even though there is an age gap, I didn't really feel much of one while we were just hanging out.
At my own company, if I say "beer for now," I get told, "That's so Showa; in the Reiwa era, we order our favorite drinks individually." But these two started by saying, "Let's start with Sapporo Classic on tap," so we got along really well! ❗️
It seems young teachers are also struggling with the gap between them and their students. I was surprised and wondered, "Is that so? Me too?" but it seems there are various issues. Even if the ages are different, it seems there is always a generational gap.
I'm sure there's no small amount of gap between seniors and superiors as well.
In the end, I took advantage of their kindness and drank to my heart's content. I enjoyed the night in Obihiro with the dynamic of an old man being spoiled by his juniors.
While I'm at it, I'll definitely visit again.
I'm also looking forward to Professor Konno's rap battle ♫
However, I believe this is all part of "grassroots sales"—taking time, designing awareness repeatedly, and visiting in person. The value of interacting with students and exchanging information with teachers face-to-face, as well as the process itself, is my strength and my value.
I will continue to rely on my juniors, and as a result, I will do my best to help create a world filled with smiles.
See you again.
