Here is
deep in a nameless alley

the sign's light
is tilted slightly
softly illuminating the night

someone is
talking about something trivial

and someone else
is laughing at it

words that serve no purpose
like steam
gently unraveling into the sky

somewhere in the world
surely important things
are being decided

but in this alley
it's okay if nothing is decided yet

the conversation is unfinished
with no punchline
drifting into another topic

anyone can come
anyone can leave whenever
and before you know it
someone is sitting there again

life itself
surely
might just be like this

if you look for meaning
it drifts far away

so
without searching

set down the teacup
make the chair creak
and continue the silly talk

floating
drifting
returning here again
