Touring Cathedrals in Kobe🔔① Kobe Baptist Church 'Morning at the Church'
There is a kindergarten next to the church, and the sound of cute voices was echoing. It is also deeply moving that this is a place associated with the late Ryohei Koiso, a painter who represents Kobe.

Kobe Baptist Church began when missionary R.C. Sherer and his family came to Kobe from the Southern Baptist Convention in the United States on August 4, 1950.
(Omitted) The church was organized in June 1951, and in March 1952, the site of the home of Christian Western-style painter Ryohei Koiso was acquired, and a church building in the American Southern Colonial style was constructed.
Ryohei Koiso, one of Japan's leading Western-style painters, was born in Kobe in 1903. After graduating at the top of his class from the Tokyo Fine Arts School, he traveled to Europe with his lifelong friend, the poet Iku Takenaka, to study Western painting. After returning to Japan, he produced many portraits, most notably of refined women.
