The Doorknob Came Off
Last night, at 10 PM, I returned home in a great mood after making a berry rare cheesecake at my club that turned out super beautiful and delicious. As I was passing through the kitchen to get to the living room, I realized...
...the doorknob was gone.

I remembered in 0.5 seconds. This morning, when I was about to leave, the doorknob came off, and since I was in a rush, I threw it "to the other side of the door," pulled the latch, and closed the door. Writing this down makes me feel pathetic for doing such a thing.
Anyway, no matter how much I touch or move the remaining latch, the door won't budge.
For now, I Google "what to do when doorknob comes off."
...It tells me to put the knob back on. Well, yeah, that assumes the detached knob is in my hand, doesn't it?
I learned that if I can do something to the latch (the little nub on the door side), it will open. But how do I make that happen?
"Insert a ruler or something"—the stationery is on the other side.
"Insert something hard"—I tried sticking a kitchen knife in... the scene looks dangerous. Also, I stopped because it felt like the wood of the door was getting scraped without anything actually moving.
Um, I have a quiz I need to finish by today, but is there even an outlet here in the kitchen?
Wait, why am I assuming I'm going to give up?
For one thing, there's no air conditioning on this side, and the room is cold enough that things needing to be refrigerated at 10°C or below could stay preserved as is. It's warmer than outside, so I don't feel the cold right now after just getting home, but if I stay here long, I'll definitely freeze. I reflexively checked the forecast for the lowest temperature at dawn, and it's 2°C. If I spend the night here, I'll probably catch a cold. Besides, I don't want to sleep on the kitchen floor.
The room temperature is gradually dropping. The deadline is approaching. Oh no, am I screwed?
I searched with different keywords as if praying, and found a method written on the website of a locksmith service,
"Unroll a toilet paper roll to make a single sheet of paper, and insert that."
It openeddddd!!

Thank you, locksmith. If I'm ever in a hopeless situation again, I'll call you. No, don't talk as if I'm going to mess up again.
And it was 1 AM by the time I finished all my quizzes! The deadline itself is 1 PM, so that's fine, but if I take a bath and do laundry from here, what time will I be able to sleep?
⇒ I canceled the laundry and compromised with just a shower, so I was able to sleep by 2 AM! I have to wake up at 7 AM! Oh no, I'm going to be drifting off in my afternoon class...
Anyway, everyone remember: if your doorknob comes off, use a toilet paper roll.
