Sauna Introduction Vol. 7: Kogane-yu
Hello everyone!
This time, for our sauna introduction, we are featuring our first public bathhouse sauna!
It is called Kogane-yu.
If you are in Tokyo, this is a sauna you must visit at least once, and
it is guaranteed to change your concept of what a public bathhouse can be!
■ What is Kogane-yu?
Kogane-yu is a public bathhouse in Kinshicho, Tokyo, that underwent a full renovation in 2020, resulting in the birth of an incredibly amazing sauna.
Also, unlike typical public bathhouses, it is a hotel-like facility that even includes accommodation space.
The bathrooms and saunas are separated by gender, but on Wednesdays, the facilities are swapped, allowing you to enjoy both.
Additionally, at the Kogane-yu front desk, you can enjoy craft beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and food, or purchase Kogane-yu merchandise.

■ Recommended points of Kogane-yu
■ Sauna quality that you wouldn't expect from a public bathhouse
At Kogane-yu, you can enjoy high-quality saunas in both the men's and women's baths.
The men's sauna is an auto-löyly sauna with a temperature of around 105 degrees Celsius.
The walls are lined with medical stone, and combined with the radiant heat and the auto-löyly that occurs every 15 minutes, it is a sauna that will definitely make you sweat.
Right in front of the sauna room, there is a cold water bath with a depth of 90 cm kept at 15 degrees Celsius, and
after that, you can enjoy the fresh air in an open-air bathing space.
The women's sauna uses domestic cypress and allows for self-löyly, with a temperature of around 90 degrees Celsius.
It has a solid temperature and humidity level, and since the aroma water changes daily, you can enjoy a pleasant sauna experience every day.
Although it does not have a water bath or outdoor bathing space like the men's side, the sauna alone delivers high performance.

Auto-löyly is performed on the sauna stones on the left side of the screen every 15 minutes.

Self-löyly is possible.
■ Enjoy both saunas with the weekly Wednesday rotation.
Every Wednesday, the men's and women's baths are swapped.
Men can enjoy the women's side sauna, and women can enjoy the men's side sauna.
I have often heard complaints from female sauna enthusiasts that many famous sauna facilities are men-only, meaning they can only experience the sauna during 'Ladies' Days' held once or twice a month, and if they lose the lottery, they cannot enjoy the sauna at all.
By introducing a weekly rotation of men's and women's baths, this facility resolves those frustrations.
Also, an interesting feature here is that the mural painted inside the bathroom is designed to span across both the men's and women's baths, so you have to aim for the rotation day to see the full picture.

■ It doesn't feel like a public bath. Enjoy original drinks and food!
The front desk at Koganeyu is equipped with a beer bar and a DJ booth so you can enjoy delicious beer and music after your bath or sauna.
They offer original craft beers, as well as homemade non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks for those who cannot drink alcohol.
Since I cannot drink alcohol, I ordered a lemon squash here.
The lemon squash after the sauna was incredibly refreshing.
You can also buy stylish and cute Koganeyu merchandise at the Koganeyu online store.

Available for purchase at the front desk!
