[Work Style Experiment] Days of Freelance Cafe Illustration Commissions x Short-term Part-time Work

Today, since I had the day off from my part-time job,
I spent the day drawing
illustrations for a cafe menu I was commissioned to do.

Oh, dear.

Hmm, that housewife vibe is really coming through.

I wonder, should I have said 'part-time gig' instead?
(*I am single)

Well, whatever.

I am currently, once again,
conducting a solo work-style experiment on my own.
(I never learn) (I'll probably keep doing this until I die)


I started a short-term job so that I could continue my creative activities like illustrations and essays, as well as
Atelier Sunao(listening to each person's story).

For about a year, I stayed home all the time,
making zines and drawing pictures,
but that came with its own set of money worries,
and I got depressed from not moving enough... lol

While securing a stable income,
to have fun! and continue my creative activities,
I chose to take a part-time job.

(Of course, everyone around me is a mom with kids
as you might expect ☺️😇)

With that strong feeling in mind,
I somehow manage to go to work and be the odd one out.

Am I aiming for a 'multiple career' approach
rather than a side job???

By the way, the cafe owner who asked for the illustrations
said,

"I'm going away for work starting in April, so if it's urgent,
it might be difficult 🙇🏻‍♀️"

When I told them that,

"There's no specific deadline, so please
draw it whenever you feel like it~"

they said. lol

Yeah, yeah.

The people I meet after stepping outside the mainstream are,
basically all people who have stepped outside the mainstream themselves
(people who have started their own shops or
work as freelancers)

So, it's very grateful to have that understanding.🌷

“Please take it easy with your work starting in April. I think your main job is probably just listening to people!

If you don't like it, you can quit anytime!!”Being sent off like this

made me feel relieved.🍓

Drawing cafe menu illustrations
was one of my dreams,

so while I was very excited,
I couldn't quite make something I was satisfied with...

I redrew it over and over again.


But today, I finally managed to submit the rough draft!!!

They were very happy with it, and I'm happy too.💫

I'm not really the 'Rinko' type, I thought,
(It sounds kind of cool, like 'Rin', doesn't it?)

Like Banana Yoshimoto,
I think it's cute to have the surname in kanji and the first name in hiragana.

It's great that anyone can read it! I thought, and came up with ideas,
but they were already taken, or they were 'very unlucky' in fortune-telling... lol

when I showed the name I thought of to an acquaintance,

For the first name, you can imagine and think of
as many cute names as you want.

But you know, once you add a surname, the atmosphere changes instantly,
it's difficult... 😱

I wasn't really interested

but the name analysis of my real name was so
accurate that I realized names are really important...

I wonder what kind of work I'll be doing tomorrow?

• part-time work

• illustrator work

• my new listener service (Sunao)

• creating a business name

• note (I consider this important work as well)

spreading things out
without getting too serious about each one
and being able to switch gearsmight be really good!

What I want to do is


to brighten the hearts of people who feel trapped by their work styles
by empathizing with them

to live peacefully in a warm home
with a kind-hearted partner

I won't forget this~
and the rest will work itself out~
