What should I do for summer vacation? Thinking about how to spend the weekdays
Hello, this is Tsumugi Mama.
In about a month, my son's kindergarten will be on summer vacation.
While I'm looking forward to the long break, I'm already a bit worried, wondering, "What should we do every day?"
Since I also have a newborn daughter this year, going out a lot in the heat is quite difficult. I'm thinking of ways we can enjoy ourselves at home without pushing ourselves too hard.
Mornings will likely revolve around water play
Speaking of summer, it has to be water play!
We have a yard, so I plan to set up a pool during the relatively cool morning hours.
It's a good way to get some exercise before the heat really sets in, and I feel like nap times go more smoothly on days when we play a lot.
Creative activities we don't usually do
Because we have more time during summer vacation, I want to try activities that require a bit of preparation.
・Agar jelly play
・Painting
・Colored water play
・Crafts
And so on.
I hope we can enjoy activities that I usually avoid because of the cleanup involved, as special memories of our summer vacation.
Baking treats together
My son has been very interested in helping out lately.
I'd like to enjoy making simple treats together, like mixing pancake batter or cutting out cookie shapes.
The time spent making them is fun, and eating snacks you made yourself feels extra special, doesn't it?
I also want to have home movie theater days
It's hard to be active every single day, so we need some relaxing days too.
Closing the curtains, preparing snacks, and opening a home movie theater sounds fun.
Since summer vacation is long, it might be important to intentionally schedule "do-nothing days."
I'm also interested in home study workbooks
I'm hoping to create a little time for him to sit at his desk.
We use store-bought workbooks regularly, but I'm currently looking for ones that might suit my son for the summer, like Shichida Method or Kodomo Challenge.
Rather than studying, I think it would be enough if we could just build a habit of doing a little bit every day.
I also want to make use of indoor playgrounds
If we stay home all the time, both of us will get cabin fever, so we'll head to an indoor playground once in a while.
It's great to be able to move around freely in a cool place.
I might not be able to go often because I have to take care of my daughter, but I want to incorporate it as a change of pace.
Having a fun summer vacation without overdoing it
Before summer vacation starts, I tend to think, "I want to do this, I want to do that," but the most important thing is not to push ourselves too hard.
I feel that just spending time together—whether it's playing in the pool or making snacks—becomes a memory, even without doing anything special every day.
First and foremost, I want us all to stay healthy and get through the summer without letting the heat get to us. ☀️🌻🍉
