That is why I write on note
Today, I am borrowing a prompt from the Kaku-bu (Writing Club).
"Why do you write on note instead of a blog or a diary?"
Why did I choose note instead of a blog or a diary? I wonder why.
I started note because I wanted to make writing a habit.
Around this time last year, I read Yuki Ishikawa's book "Writing Habits" and decided to try a one-month writing challenge.
But since I'm a quitter, I was worried about whether I could really keep it up.
So, I decided to declare "I'll do it!" so that I wouldn't be able to back out.
No one might have been watching, but I felt like I could do it once I said it, so I'm glad I made that declaration.
A diary or blog would have been fine, but I think I chose note because I already had an account, it was easy to start, and I could get reactions from people who read it.
If no one was watching, I feel like I would have made excuses like "I'm tired today" or "I can't think of anything to write" and given up.
So, I think the fact that someone read my article and pressed the 'like' button made me feel like "there are people watching," which helped me keep going.
Also, note feels relatively calm, which I think is nice.
If there were mean people or if only depressing information was flowing in, I think I would have gotten tired and quit.
I feel that the content of everyone's articles, as well as the comments, are often kind.
To me, note has the image of a residential area with a big park surrounded by greenery. I don't know what that means.
It's like everyone is doing their own thing in their own homes, but if someone is out for a walk, they say hello, and sometimes they chat in the park or in someone's front yard.
That makes even less sense, doesn't it?
Not too closed off, but not too intrusive.
I can't explain it well, but I think that feeling is just right.
I feel like I've gone off-topic, so I'll summarize.
I chose note because it has a calm and comfortable atmosphere, and I thought it would be easier to continue building a writing habit if there was a moderate amount of reaction from readers.
I didn't summarize it very well, but that's it for today. I'm also curious about why everyone else chose note.
