Quiet as a cat, but with an authentic aroma: The disguised drip coffee
Hello everyone. I work in IT and am a huge fan of cats and coffee, so I go by the name "I Love Cats."
Actually, it's my daily routine to brew coffee with beans I've roasted myself after lunch. However, I have a slightly shy concern: I don't want to be seen as a "coffee geek" at the office.
I want to enjoy the perfect cup of coffee quietly, like a cat. Today, I'd like to share the tricks I use at the office for what I call"disguised dripping."I hope you find them useful.
Choosing tools that blend into the "everyday"
If you set out professional kettles and grinders at the office, you're bound to stand out.
That's why I use a strategy ofpretending to use store-bought drip packs.
Dripper: I use Daiki Shoji's Coffee Filter Coffee Pachitto, which are essentially empty drip bags (without the grounds). I use a "drip bag stand" type I bought at Daiso that sits on top of the cup and keeps the bag from soaking in the coffee. This way, I blend into the scene as someone just using a store-bought drip bag.
Kettle (substitute): I don't have a dedicated kettle; I use two identical paper cups. I pour hot water from the electric pot into one paper cup and use that as a kettle. You can actually control the pour quite well with it.
This "paper cup kettle" also has the advantage of cooling the water to a moderate temperature. Since the cups are the same size, there's no leftover water either.

30 seconds in the morning creates magic at the office
I grind the coffee beans at home on the morning of the day I bring them. I quickly measure out 12g to 13g usingBelleLife's electric grinderand catch it directly in the bottle. There's little static electricity, and the preparation takes only about 30 seconds, making it a great ally for busy mornings.

When I transfer the grounds to the drip bag at the office, I use a small funnel. I get a little nervous that I might look like I'm doing a "suspicious experiment" during this moment, but the trick is to do it quickly.
Pretending to look at my smartphone
While the coffee is brewing, I pretend to look at my smartphone while launching atimer app.Using a scale would definitely make me stand out, so I sharpen my senses while watching how much the level in the paper cup drops.

Then, sometimes my colleagues around me will say something like this:
"Oh, that smells really good!"
When I hear those words, I feel a sense of pride that even though I'm camouflaging, I can't hide the quality of the aroma. That moment is actually something I'm quite proud of.
Bonus: A delightful gift and checking in with myself
Today, a colleague at work gave me a drip bag. The fact that they remembered I like coffee is what makes me happiest of all. Still, the blend composition of the Ogawa Premium Blend is incredible, lol.

Drinking the coffee I was given is an important time for me to confirm my current position (my taste preferences and roast levels). I used to love the yellow 'Takumi Drip' bags, but since I started roasting my own beans, I've become much more sensitive to the freshness and condition of the beans.
How do you all refresh yourselves at the office? If you have any tips on how to enjoy it without drawing attention, please let me know!
