A Rinka Mame-bachi (Hagi ware) that looks like a spotted knifejaw is perfect as a soy sauce dish for sashimi
Anglers often eat sashimi
Hello, this is the wife 👋🏻
Since I got hooked on fishing and started going on trips almost every week, I've had more opportunities to eat sashimi.
I've always liked pottery, so I had collected large plates from places like Koishiwara ware, but for soy sauce dishes, I had always just used ones from Seria.
Since I use soy sauce dishes frequently, I was looking for one I really liked, and recently I finally found my favorite.
A design like a spotted knifejaw: Tenryu Kiln's "Rinka Mame-bachi"
I had been looking around on Rakuten Ichiba, Creema, and other sites to find my favorite soy sauce dish, but I just couldn't find one for the longest time.
That's when I suddenly thought to look up Hagi ware from Yamaguchi Prefecture, which I had visited in the past.
Then, I found the "Rinka Mame-bachi" from a kiln called Tenryu Kiln and it was a huge hit for me!

It has an organic shape unlike anything else, and the color and pattern are reminiscent of a spotted knifejaw. If you're an angler, there's no way you wouldn't think of a spotted knifejaw when you see this 🐟️

I thought of a spotted knifejaw, but it seems the motif is actually a flower.
It is a bowl shaped like a large flower.
The silver glaze gives it an antique feel!
Impressions of using the Rinka Mame-bachi
Shipping is free, so it was easy to buy, and I bought two as soon as I found them. The patterns are slightly different in size, which adds to their charm.

The size is 8cm in diameter, which feels just right for a soy sauce dish. It has a distinct rim, so you can also place a little bit of wasabi or similar on it.

How to purchase the Rinka Mame-bachi
The Rinka Mame-bachi can be purchased from the Tenryu Kiln official website. Some Tenryu Kiln pottery is available on sites like Rakuten Ichiba, but as far as I could see, the Rinka Mame-bachi was only sold on the official website.
Summary
I recommend it because it looks cool when placed next to sashimi👋🏻
※I also bought the black version of the larger bowl (7-sun), and that was also great. It seems to be discontinued and is almost sold out on Rakuten Ichiba, but you can buy it if you contact the kiln directly.
