The world is run by sheep. After watching the movie "The Sheep Detectives"

Having watched "Shaun the Sheep," I was well aware that sheep are much smarter than they appear, understand human speech, and enjoy all sorts of fun and chaotic antics when humans aren't looking. Even if each one has its own individual personality.
This movie was pretty much that kind of sheep comedy, too.

The Sheep Detectives

George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who loves his sheep dearly. It is his habit to read mystery novels to them at dusk.
The sheep, having been read nothing but mystery novels, speculate about the murderers in the stories. Lily, the smartest sheep of all, has excellent deductive skills and guesses the culprit correctly, but the other sheep are way off base, naming culprits from previously read books or insisting that the maid did it.
They were a bit eccentric, but the sheep and George were living a peaceful and happy life.
However, one day, George is found dead. It seems he was murdered by someone.

And so, with Lily at the center, the sheep begin taking all sorts of actions to find and catch the murderer.
Lily and the others proceed with their investigation relying on the theories of mystery novels, but the only police officer in town is a man everyone calls a "dimwit," and it is just so frustrating. Lily and her friends give him hints on how to investigate.

Lily and the others lead the dimwit around, standing on the street to watch the police station to see if he is acting as they expect, but sheep are just funny when they are standing there looking at you. There are many scenes where one or two of them are just staring at you in silence. The "timing" of that was exquisite, and I laughed many times.

Thanks to the sheep's efforts, the case is neatly solved. It was a comedy movie with a happy ending (even though a murder occurred) and some heartwarming elements. It was conscientious, I suppose—the kind of story where sincerity and love are rewarded. It was a pleasant movie.

Still, sheep.
Are sheep some kind of special animal?
Not only is there "Shaun the Sheep," but in Issui Ogawa's sci-fi novel series "The Marginal Operation," there are sheep whose DNA has been made 50 times longer than normal sheep through genetic modification by space entities (or whatever they are), and in the drama "Alien: Earth," there are sheep whose eyeballs have become something outrageous after being parasitized by space creatures, and there are even people called "Hitsujibungaku" (Sheep Literature). Surely, it is sheep that are running the world. Behind our backs.
