I had a fibroma on my nose removed
Last time, I talked about how I messed with my nose too much and got a fibroma.
About a week later, I went back to the dermatologist for a follow-up.
👩⚕️Derm: "Oh, it's getting better. Let me take a look."
👩⚕️Derm: "Doctor, it has turned into a nodule after all, so we have to perform surgery."
"I see..."
👩⚕️Derm: "I'll go ask the plastic surgeon, so wait here!"
👩⚕️Derm: "Doctor, this is a staff member, and it has turned into a nodule."
👩⚕️Plastic Surgeon: "Oh, you're right. But it's small, so I think it will heal without the scar being noticeable if we burn it off! Doctor, shall we burn it now?"
"Huh!? Right now? I have a conference in 20 minutes..."
👩⚕️Plastic Surgeon: "It's okay, it will be over in 10 minutes!"
"Oh, okay then, please do!"
And so, the fibroma removal was decided with incredible speed.
I was guided straight to the treatment room,
👩⚕️: "Okay, lie down. The anesthesia will probably be the most painful part. Anesthesia for the nose is painful, you know. Hang in there!"
So scary (crying).
Oh no, I'm on a mini operating table... (idiot)
Just as I was thinking that, in the blink of an eye,
Stab
went the anesthesia.
It was definitely painful (crying).
But it was way better than labor pain.
VIO hair removal is more painful.
👩⚕️: "Alright, I'll start burning it now!"
With that, they burned it off with a CO2 laser, I think.
Anesthesia is amazing, it didn't hurt at all.
👩⚕️"Okay, all done!"
It only took a few minutes.
👩⚕️"Alright, take a look in the mirror."
"Wow! There's a hole there!"
I realized why this interaction felt so familiar—it's just like when I get an eyelash perm done.
I was shown a hand mirror while still lying down, and there was a hole about 5mm wide in my nose.
It seems they cauterized it all the way down to the subcutaneous tissue.
👩⚕️"I cauterized it thoroughly so that the subcutaneous layer is visible, but if it happens to recur, just let me know and I'll cauterize it again. Basically, please apply the ointment for two weeks, and once a scab forms, you can stop using the ointment. It should be healed in about three months."
With that, I was prescribed Gentacin ointment, and
I was told that if it doesn't recur, no follow-up visit is necessary.
The treatment ended quickly, it didn't hurt that much, and if this cures it, then it's a huge success.
It's been about four days since the treatment now, and
a scab has formed.
I want to keep a record of the treatment progress to see if it heals cleanly.
See you later!
