My first co-translation, "Children of Entrada," will be published by Asunaro Shobo. If all goes well, it should be out before summer. Sigh... I can't wait...
The original work is a collection of linked short stories set in an apartment building called Entrada, featuring 12 children as the protagonists.

The children's roots are incredibly diverse, including backgrounds from Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, India, China, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Japan, among others.
As a fan-translator, I was in charge of the story about a Russian-Jewish boy.

Reading just this part might give you the impression that it's very typical of the United States as a multi-ethnic nation, but in Japan today, we also live in an era where children with different roots are in our classrooms, living in our neighborhoods, and are our friends.

Yes, you there—the one thinking, "I have people like that around me, but I've never really talked to them." I really want you to read this book.

Because thanks to this diversity of roots, lots of delicious-looking food from various countries and regions appears in the book.
You know how sometimes you try a strange-looking foreign food with hesitation, only to find it's incredibly delicious? Besides, doesn't eating something tasty just make you feel happy?

Watching the children in these stories, I think that relationships between people are the same way. Even when they are puzzled by cultural differences, these lively children deepen their connections. It is a wonderful work that somehow gives you courage.

I translated this work together with 12 diverse colleagues.
