The Second Batch of New Rose Seedlings for Spring 2025
I welcomed three new rose seedlings in the spring of 2025.
First, there is 'Syrinx' (a Rosa Orientis rose), which I welcomed on April 23rd.
Then, on May 17th, I welcomed two new seedlings that I had pre-ordered from Komeri.
'Le Temps des Cerises' (a Delbard rose).

'La Broche' (a Kawamoto Rose Garden rose).

'Le Temps des Cerises' is a rose that caught my eye the moment I first saw it, and I couldn't forget it.
Its 'red-black' flower color. I was so drawn to it, thinking about how mature and enchanting a rose it is.
I also have 'Odyssey' which has a 'red-black' flower color, but in my mind, I feel that 'Odyssey' has a stronger 'red' tone, while 'Le Temps des Cerises' has a stronger 'purple' tone.
Basically, I prefer roses with pale, gentle colors, but I really want to use this striking, beautiful deep purple as an accent to make the fence on the west side of my house look gorgeous.
And the other one I welcomed, 'La Broche', is a 'Kawamoto Rose Garden' rose that I finally decided to buy.
It is a rose created by Makiko Kawamoto of 'Kawamoto Rose Garden' and belongs to the 'Rose de Mercerie' series. These roses from Kawamoto Rose Garden are wonderful for their nuance colors that women love.
They have soft, gentle shades and a delicate appearance; there are so many wonderful roses that simply cannot be described in a single word.
However, it has been five years since I started growing roses. Until now, I hadn't been able to bring myself to try these roses from Kawamoto Rose Garden.
The reason was that I didn't have the confidence to grow them well (^^;.
I just thought they seemed difficult to grow...
In fact, 'La Broche', which I welcomed this time, seems to be a rose that requires regular pesticide spraying, and I don't necessarily have the confidence to grow it well either, but after five years, I thought I might have reached a level slightly above that of a complete beginner... (^^;
I had been wanting a yellow rose, but I was drawn to the indescribable nuance color of 'La Broche'—whether you call it beige or gold—so I decided to welcome it.
I wanted to increase the number of shrub roses (roses that are halfway between bush and climbing types) to decorate the west fence, and after thinking through various conditions, I chose these two.
With this, I plan to have completed my collection of climbing roses and shrub roses for my home.
I immediately repotted them into 6-inch pots.

As for 'Le Temps des Cerises', it already had three large buds when I brought it home, and all of them had already started to show color. The roots were well-established, and it looked like it would grow vigorously from here on out.

As for 'La Broche', the plant height was quite tall, and it also already had three buds.
The standard practice for new seedlings is to pinch off the buds (remove them) even if they appear, in order to let the plant grow strong first.
This time, since the buds were so swollen they looked like they were about to bloom, I let one flower bloom on each of them.

I took a photo to see what kind of flowers they would produce, and then I pinched off the rest of the buds. I want to take good care of them so they can bloom beautifully in the autumn.

By the way, about a month has passed since I brought home the first one, 'Syrinx', and it has been growing rapidly, even reaching the point of producing buds.

However, I pinched these off as well. Then, I repotted it from a 6-inch pot to an 8-inch pot, and I also bought a fence for the planned spot and trained the plant onto it.

June is a time when roses grow vigorously. I hope these new seedlings will settle into my home well (*´ω`)
