HSS-type HSPs can truly shine in remote work! 3 reasons why I was able to earn an income despite being sensitive
Hello! It's Risa ^^
I've been running non-stop lately, taking on challenges like Kindle publishing and
turning new product ideas into reality, but...
I've felt once again that remote work is the best for sensitive people!
The reason is that I often found myself confused by my own nature—my inherent curiosity would run wild, leading me to try many things, only for me to suddenly run out of energy because I'm too sensitive.
For people like us, remote work is the perfect stage—because you can freely control your own pace and the level of stimulation.
What exactly is an HSS-type HSP?
An HSS-type HSP is a special temperament that combines a curiosity for stimulation (HSS) with a sensitive and easily exhausted nature (HSP).
While your heart races for new things, you get tired from small sounds or people's gazes...
It's like we have two conflicting forces living inside us.
That is exactly why remote work, where you can set up your environment at your own pace, is perfect for us.

3 reasons why remote work suits HSS-type HSPs
1. You can control the amount of stimulation yourself
The noise of the office, the exhaustion from human relationships...
Freed from such stress, you can play your favorite music or focus in a quiet corner.
“I want it quieter now,” “Time for a change of pace”—
The peace of mind that comes from following your own voice in that moment lightens your heart.
2. You can satisfy your curiosity at any time
When working from home, you can check out online courses in your spare time or work on multiple projects simultaneously.
The freedom to try something as soon as you think, “I'm interested in this!” turns your tendency to get bored easily into “new challenges.”
I've made trial and error my hobby, and once I'm satisfied, I go off in pursuit of new stimulation again ♪
3. You can use your energy wisely
Since you aren't drained by commuting or unnecessary office stimulation, you can focus on the work itself.
The flexibility to move to a rest area whenever you feel tired is also a major appeal.
Thanks to that, I can maintain a balance between mind and body while steadily accumulating results.

However, there are some points to be careful about...
・Over-stimulation
Because you have freedom, you might get too absorbed in learning or gathering information and end up exhausted.
Decide on a time limit, like “Just this much for today,” and keep a good rhythm.
・Caring for feelings of loneliness
While you can immerse yourself in work alone, there is also the loneliness of having fewer human connections.
Please create a place for emotional support through online communities or regular “face-to-face” meetings with colleagues.
- Investing in a comfortable environment
For those of us with sharp senses, the comfort of our chair, the organization of our desk area, and the brightness of the lighting are important factors.
Incorporate your favorite scents and houseplants to create your own cozy space.
Remote work is a way of working that allows HSS-type HSPs to balance their two conflicting natures.
By adjusting the amount of stimulation yourself, satisfying your curiosity, and using your energy wisely,
“I want to achieve both high-quality work and mental well-being”
It makes that wish come true.
I believe that remote work is not 'running away,' but rather 'choosing the right environment' for an HSS-type HSP.
Commuter trains, office noise, and the constant need to be considerate of interpersonal relationships.
I was surprised myself at how much I could accomplish just by eliminating all of that.
Sensitivity truly shines in a quiet environment.
Since writing this article, that conviction has only deepened.
First, as a small step—
Try placing your favorite scent or a plant in your workspace
Use a timer to limit 'information gathering time' to 30 minutes a day
Hold an online catch-up session with friends once a week
Why not start with such small adjustments?
