For you who feel you might be an HSP: 5 truths I want you to know first
Introduction
Why is this happening?
Lately, just living my life makes my chest feel tight and painful.
Just being in a crowd makes me feel like I can't breathe.
A casual remark from someone stays in my head forever.
I myself have repeated days like that, and
"Am I strange?"
I have felt that way many times.
"Why do I get tired so easily?"
The reason might actually lie in your kindness.
Today, I would like to quietly and gently unravel the temperament known as "HSP," which involves such delicate sensitivity.
What is HSP?
HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) —
This refers to people who are born with emotional sensors that are more sensitive than others.
In Japanese, they are also called "sensai-san" (delicate ones).
This is not an "illness" or a "weakness," but a "personality trait."
It is said that about one in five people are born with this delicate temperament.
It is a unique "sensitivity" that belongs only to you.
● Characteristics of HSP
🌸 Sensitive to sounds, lights, and people's emotions, leading to quick exhaustion
🌸 Tends to over-analyze the atmosphere of a room
🌸 A single word can stay in the heart for days
🌸 Needs time alone
🌸 Can feel pressured even when being praised
If you thought "I can relate to that" regarding these characteristics, you might have a "delicate heart" within you as well.

Delicacy = A unique way the brain works
Our brains have various "ways of working."
Some people notice changes in someone's expression immediately, while others don't notice at all.
It's not about good or bad; it's just a "difference."
The HSP brain is like a thin antenna, picking up many stimuli from the outside world.
Sounds, words, atmosphere, gazes...
It takes all of them in deeply.
Which type am I?
~There are various "ways of feeling" even among HSPs~
Even among HSPs (delicate ones), there are various "ways it manifests."
Here, I will gently introduce four main types.

[Type 1] HSP (Introverted delicate one)
Gets tired if they don't have time alone
Wants to center themselves in a quiet environment
I like to think deeply, but I also get easily caught up in emotions
To you:
When you feel like you are losing yourself by trying too hard to fit in with those around you, try listening to that small voice inside asking, "What do I want to do right now?"
[Type 2] HSE (Highly Sensitive Extrovert)
You find joy in connecting with people
But you suddenly feel exhausted in an instant
Even if you appear sociable, you are often on high alert inside
To you:
You look cheerful, but you are actually sensitive—both are part of your true nature. When you are tired, gently take off your mask of smiles and take a deep breath.
[Type 3] HSS-type HSP (High Sensation Seeking Highly Sensitive Person)
You like new things and have a sense of adventure
But you get tired quickly if the stimulation is too strong
Curiosity and sensitivity come to you in alternating waves
To you:
You don't need to think, "Am I being contradictory?" It is okay to have days for exploring and days for sleeping quietly.
I am this type too...
[Type 4] HSS-type HSE (Extroverted + High Sensation Seeking Highly Sensitive Person)
You are bright, sociable, and active
Inside, your sensitive sensors are running at full capacity
Even when you are having fun, you are very sensitive to friction in human relationships
To you:
When you feel, "Why am I so tired?" try pausing to see if you are pushing yourself too hard amidst the hustle and bustle.

It is okay not to force yourself to fit into a category
"Am I an HSP?"
"Which type do I fit into?"
When you feel that way, you naturally want to find an answer.
But you know, getting to know yourself is not a diagnosis, it is a 'journey'.
What is important is to gradually learn 'how you are feeling'.
And to give yourself permission to say, 'It is okay to feel that way'.
Sensitivity is my 'strength'
HSP is sometimes said to be 'hard to live with'.
But that is the kindness and beauty you were born with.
🌸 Being able to notice the pain of others
🌸 Being able to feel the thoughts hidden behind someone's silence
🌸 Having your heart stirred by the changing seasons or the color of the sky
That is something very, very precious.
That is exactly why, please do not push yourself too hard.
If you get tired of the noise of the world, take a deep breath in a quiet place.
Please allow yourself the time to return to who you are.
In closing
The word 'HSP' is just 'one hint' for getting to know yourself.
If you can feel a little more at ease by giving it a name, then that is fine.
But what is truly important is—
That you, as you are now, are already okay.
That you have value just as you are.
To you, who are sensitive.
You have been doing your best for a long time, haven't you?
Please, gently embrace yourself just as you are.
Even the feelings that cannot be put into words are reaching me.
You are not alone.
Because I, too, am living while feeling things just like you.
