A Summer of Being Less Than Human / #WeeklyShortShort
I'll try a 410-character short short again this week.
A Summer of Being Less Than Human
On July 7th, I died once.
I see, so this is the Sanzu River.
I wish I had at least gotten a girlfriend. I should have properly asked out that girl at the convenience store I saw every day and was interested in. I bought the same rice ball and Wilkinson sparkling water as always, and she would smile and say, 'The same as always today, huh? I like this rice ball and sparkling water too.' I have no memory after that. Ah, so you're King Enma.
'Your body is unharmed, but your heart stopped. As a special exception, I will let you be revived by making the last person you met your substitute. Otherwise, it's hell for you.'
'Don't mess with me. Please, don't make her my substitute. I'll take hell.'
'Then so be it.'

When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed. When I came to, the girl from the convenience store was there.
'Oh, I'm so glad. You suddenly collapsed... Since it was Tanabata, I was wishing for this person to be saved.'
After being discharged, I decided to go see the Milky Way with her. Buying the same rice ball and Wilkinson sparkling water as always.

So, although quite some time has passed since Tanabata, 'make today the best day ever'.
