Remembering buying a CELINE Luggage at 25 [Designer goods live with a girl's memories]

I started my business during the COVID-19 pandemic, so before that, I was a company employee and often went on overseas trips with my colleagues and friends.

Especially when going to Europe, wanting European brand items is surely a common thing for girls...

I still remember buying a CELINE Luggage at Charles de Gaulle Airport on my way back from France.

It was a super expensive purchase for me at 25, but at the time, 1 euro was about 120 yen, so thinking about it now, I think it was a really good deal due to the strong yen. (It's 160 yen per euro now)

It's fun just looking back at them.

I'm still using it with care, of course.

I'm the type who doesn't buy designer goods in Japan.

I might not have any high-brand bags or accessories bought in Japan at all. I've never made an impulse buy either.

But, when I go on trips, I'm the type to buy a lot. lol

European brands are, after all, cheaper to buy in Europe, and I like that travel memories come attached to them. (There's also the fact that my sense of money gets buggy 😂)

I went to Europe again this year. The Hermès flagship store was fun... This time I bought a Chaine d'Ancre ↓

I understand that from a man's perspective, it's like, what's with that expensive bag lol.

But for girls, designer goods are things that[live with memories], and I think they are things that come back to life as symbols of memories, like this note, where 5 years later, I can think, 'Oh, I had this experience'.

I remembered that yesterday because I saw the news that 【The Celine Luggage bag has been discontinued】.

What!

What!!!!

I thought, and when I checked the Celine online site, this was all there was. lol

It's for real. lol

I mean, 430,000 yen for a Nano...!?
Isn't the inflation crazy... sigh.

Also, I don't really follow designer bags on a daily basis, and even when I travel, I don't go with a specific target in mind; I just go without deciding anything and buy something if it catches my eye, so I'm not very familiar with the lineup, but...

I did realize that Celine's bag selection is completely different from five years ago.

Designer trends come and go so fast...

Of course, I think designs change when the designer changes, but I'm surprised that the Luggage is being discontinued (though there hasn't been an official announcement from Celine yet, lol).

Thinking that I won't be able to buy it anymore makes it even more precious.

For me, designer goods are “I'm happy if I can use it for 10 years, and if I can use it for 20, it's a lifelong item”.

Five years have passed in the blink of an eye, but it's still my sweet little thing.

While recent bags have huge logos, I also like that bags from a little while ago have a more understated impression.

Since I also bought my first designer bag myself, in a foreign land, feeling like I was taking a leap of faith, I have such a deep attachment to this Luggage bag; if I had just bought it casually in Japan, I don't think I would feel this strongly about it.

Rather than buying lots of cheap things, good items hold memories, last a long time, and you end up using them more carefully and cherishing them.

Personally, I recommend buying something a little nice while traveling, with the intention of using it for the rest of your life.
