Should Freelancers Go Beyond 'Average'?
It is no use just doing what others can do at an average level.
When I want to achieve results in something, I often think about 'how I can become the top 1 percent'.
When I was still a company employee and had just started my side business, I would do things like 'always send a thank-you email to the organizer after attending a seminar (or a LINE message if we were close),' or, though it was a bit of a brute-force mindset, wake up at 4 a.m. to work.
When 100 people were lined up, I was conscious of doing things that only I was doing, or things that only I could do.
Even if you put in the same amount of passion and do the same things as the person next to you, you are just one person in the crowd; there is nothing wrong with that, but if that is the case, being employed as a salaryman is far more stable.
However, in the position of a freelancer or entrepreneur, if you keep that mindset, you won't get work, and it's hard to make a breakthrough.
When you start a business, you feel this even more strongly.
It is no use just doing the same things as everyone else.
But these 'slight differences' are actually surprisingly easy to create.
For example, with note, many people start, but almost no one continues. So, just by continuing, you naturally become the top 1 percent. I think you become the top 1 percent just by continuing for a year, don't you?
If you think you are 'average,' the first thing you have to do is 'put in the time'.Look at things over a long span and keep going.
If those around you are doing three hours a day, you do six. Just by continuing that for 30 days, you create a big difference.
'I have a family...', 'I'm busy with work...', 'My kids...'. There are endless reasons why you can't do something. But that's not just you; everyone has their own problems.
In the end, the fundamental principle is that things improve in proportion to the 'time spent.' It should have been the same with the lessons you took as a child.
At first, 'Shu-Ha-Ri' (follow, break, transcend) is important, but after that, I think it's good to have the habit of thinking about adding a little extra. I quite like this, and I'm always thinking, 'How can I make this interesting?' That's why I have infinite ideas. (Though, all that's left is to take action...! Haha)
For example, when building a website.
Instead of using the same tools as others, I dare to choose different ones. Even when looking for materials, I try to find a completely different pond instead of the fishing hole everyone else is using. Sometimes I even look across borders. (Don't copy me too much, okay? Haha)
If you keep doing things like that, you will naturally become a 'top 1 percent person'.
Furthermore, if you can become 'one in 100' in another field, that alone makes you a 'one in 10,000' existence.
If you add another field and become 'one in 100' there, you create a rarity of 'one in a million'.
This is how you can create your own 'individuality'.
There are endless ways to do things. When you think about it that way, being able to work freely is the best, isn't it?
