Places I Want to Visit at Least Once (Preparing for Summer Mountain Climbing)
I absolutely hate exercising, but
I am doing my best to exercise.
Because!
There is a place I want to visit at least once.
For me, that is the Southern Alps.
【I want to go to the summit of the Queen of the Southern Alps,
Mount Senjo!】
Since it is a mountain, you can only reach it on foot.
Access to the trailhead is also difficult,
and for beginners, the season is only in the summer.
(I am not a brave soul capable of winter mountain climbing)
I really want to go to Mount Senjo,
which is called the Queen of the Southern Alps.
On the way along the mountain trail, if it is clear,
there is apparently a spot where you can see
the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest mountains in Japan!
(Mount Fuji, Mount Kita, and Mount Aino)
I am also studying thoroughly by looking at maps.
It seems there is a steep climb from the trailhead.
I have started practicing to get used to steep mountain paths little by little,
but...
I cannot climb at a steady pace,
and even at a slow pace,
my heart rate goes up tremendously.
My muscle strength dropped significantly
during my year of living as a shut-in last year.
My physical fitness age is in my 60s.
I am not starting from zero,
but from the negatives.
I have planned to climb Mount Senjo many times before,
but I have been unable to go repeatedly.
The first time, a typhoon hit on the planned day.
I do not have the skills to climb in bad weather.
When I planned it for the second time,
the access road from the Yamanashi Prefecture side
was cut off.
I gave up, thinking it was impossible
if I couldn't reach the trailhead.
The third time was last year.
I had to give up because my physical condition was not good.
Also, no matter how long I waited,
there was no announcement about the restoration
of the road to the trailhead on the Yamanashi side.
After so many years, I was curious about the situation,
so I checked the Yamanashi Prefecture website...
It seems that restoration is impossible...
And then,
I noticed the trailhead on the Nagano Prefecture side.
Well, it had been there before, but
I hadn't considered it because it is far from my home.
I can go from here!!
Though it seems it gets incredibly crowded
during the high season...
Even though it is a 3000m-class mountain, Mount Senjo
can apparently be done as a day trip if you are a strong hiker.
(Though the morning is incredibly early)
Since I am far from being a strong hiker,
I plan to go at a leisurely pace
while staying at a mountain hut.
Reservations for that mountain hut
start this weekend.
Will I actually be able to get a reservation?!
(If I can't, I can't climb)
And, the treat after the climb
is a sauce katsudon.
(I have even decided that much)
As someone who hates exercise,
will I be able to make it there safely...?
#Let's enjoy the greeting
