On the Side of Life: Essay Collection 21 - The Summer I, at 38, Got Hooked on Tanka.
Hello everyone, it's Shinsuke!
The other day, I suddenly decided to try writing tanka, so I wrote some with a summer theme.
Since I had gone to the trouble of writing them, I started wanting someone to see them,
and submitted my work to the contest.
As a result, I received reactions from many different people.
Having my work evaluated is a culture unique to NOTE that I don't see much on other social media, and I love it.
When I looked at other works there, I found many poems that skillfully used words I could never express.
And above all, within the set rules of 5-7-5-7-7, which feel long yet short,
"How skillfully can one express oneself?"
I became completely addicted to this refreshing feeling, which is similar to a sport.
Tanka is profound...
It seems the [Everyone's Haiku Contest] is accepting various poems until July 25th.
Lastly, one poem:
Summer vegetables
Before I knew it, busily
Plump and round
Like my wife's
XX
(End)
Thank you for reading today as well.
