Ororon Curveball: Yamanashi Trip ③ Come Back iPad mini!!! Yamanashi is the Best!!
Arrived in Shinjuku from Kofu. We packed our bags, saying, "Wow, that was fun."
We threw away our trash and transferred from Shinjuku Station to the Chuo Line.
"Hmm," "Hmm..." "Hmmmm!!!"
I might have done it. That's what I thought. I frantically searched inside my bag.
"I've done it..." I turned back to my wife with a pathetic look on my face.
"I left my iPad mini on the train..."
"What!!" My wife's face contorted.
I apologized to my wife, immediately got off the train, and dashed to Shinjuku Station!!
I explained the situation to the station attendant at the Shinjuku Station ticket gate. I also gave them my seat number.
The attendant checked for me, but said that this train had been sent to Tokyo as a deadhead, and so on.
Oh, my goodness...
Apparently, JRA now manages lost items via a chat service using LINE.
Though I learned later that the name was "find chat."
I was given a QR code, registered, and headed home with my shoulders slumped.
When I got home, I explained the situation to my family, and while I was standing there in a daze, it hit me.
That's it!! "Find My"!! The Find My iPhone app, yes, that's it!!

My iPad mini has cellular capabilities. Maybe, just maybe, I can find it!! I frantically mashed the "Find My" button.
There it was! It was moving. I could see it moving around the Tokyo Station area.
It seemed to be circling around Tokyo Station.
I frantically entered my contact information and tried to make it play a sound, but there was no response.
Now, all I could do was watch and wait.
Of course, I sent the situation to the lost item chat on LINE.
As expected, no response.
And then, the iPad mini started moving.
"...It's, it's coming back." Yes, it seemed the iPad mini was heading back toward Kofu.
It seemed it was heading back to Kofu while still in the seat pocket.
I frantically checked the train timetable. Indeed, there was a train heading to Kofu. I wondered if it hadn't been cleaned and if no one had sat in that seat.
The iPad mini, which had spent the Yamanashi trip with me and my wife, was now alone, all by itself,
swaying on the train again, heading toward Kofu. It was its second trip to Yamanashi.
Until I reached Kofu Station, I had no choice but to stare intently at the "Find My" screen. I confirmed it had reached Kofu Station and tried to make it play a sound, but there was no response. Now, I had no choice but to wait, trusting in the kindness of the Kofu station staff and the blessings of Shosenkyo. Go to bed! Time to sleep!!

Woke up in the morning. Looking at my iPhone, there was a voicemail!!
Check, check, check, check!!
Oh my gosh!! There was a call from a Kofu Station attendant.
Summarizing it in place of an AI: "Either come to Kofu Station to pick it up, or go to the lost and found office at your nearest JR station. There is a time limit on how long we can hold it, so if the deadline passes, the iPad mini will be turned over to the Kofu Police Station."
"Thank you so much!!"
I dashed to Tokyo Station so fast I left an afterimage!!
There was a line at the Yaesu Exit lost and found office, but it wasn't long.
When it was my turn, I explained, explained, and explained the situation to the male staff member.
The man understood, saying, "Uh-huh, uh-huh." He gripped the phone firmly and called Kofu Station for me. "Please fill this out." "Yes!!"
I filled out the paperwork for a cash-on-delivery courier service.
I filled it out without even blinking to ensure there were no mistakes.
To the staff at Tokyo Station, thank you very much.
Now, all I have to do is trust and wait.
Just in case, I chatted the situation to the lost item LINE "find chat."
Then, 17 minutes later, I got a chat back. "The staff is all very happy that your item was found. Thank you for using find chat." Yes, I was truly glad. I was so glad my iPad mini had cellular capabilities. I really was, yes.
Since then, before I knew it, I was checking the current location of the iPad mini on "Find My."
And finally, the iPad mini started moving.

Is it on a train?

Is it, is it in a car?
Anyway, it's coming. It's getting closer!!
Even when I went to work, I checked it whenever I had time.
I was on edge until the very end.
And then...

Ta-da! It arrived! It arrived!!
Welcome back, young master!!
I'll never let you go again!!
Man, once again, thank you so much to the staff at Kofu Station!!
With this, the Yamanashi trip has truly ended.
That's how it felt.
A lot happened, but Yamanashi was the best!!!
The blessings of Shosenkyo really worked!!!
