On the question of "Who are you?"
Yesterday, I attended the monthly regular meeting of the business owners' association 😃
During the meeting, there was a workshop where we paired up to talk.
"Who are you?"
"Why are you here as you are now?"
These were the topics given.
Simply put, it was a self-introduction!? 😃
I'll try writing about it on note as well.
I am from Hyogo Prefecture.
I grew up near a ski resort, so I've been skiing since I was three, and naturally, skiing is my special skill.
From the time I was in junior high school, my mother told me to get some kind of national qualification.
The reason was that it is necessary for a woman to acquire the means to live on her own, and since the Yanagisawa children are not the quiet type 🤣 and not suited for office work, I should get a professional skill! That was the idea 😁
So, what I chose was to become a dental hygienist.
The reason I chose it was
At the time, when people thought of qualifications for women, they thought of nursing. There were many nurses in my neighborhood and all around me.
That's exactly why I wanted to choose a different profession!
I thought it might be interesting for me, who was a bullied child, to carve out a path as a dental hygienist! So I chose that.
Having said that, I also thought that giving people injections would be scary, right? 🤣
I had hated studying until then, but studying to be a dental hygienist was the only thing I enjoyed!
I thought it was amazing that even the indentations on teeth have names 🤣
I became a dental hygienist, but it was tough at first 💧
Giving people injections is way easier; removing tartar from inside the gums was the hardest thing ever.
At 26, I seriously hated it😅, and when I thought about quitting to become an office worker, a male friend said this to me.
You are definitely not cut out for office work. You wouldn't just say 'yes' to people's instructions, would you? Just become an expert in a technical field, whether it's working a cash register or anything else!
I thought, 'Hmm, I see.'
Got it!
So I changed jobs, but I continued as a dental hygienist.
Then, when I turned 30, I realized that I could only be a dental hygienist.
I couldn't send a fax, I couldn't use a copier, I didn't understand A4 or B5 sizes, and I couldn't do general office tasks lol
I realized I could only do dental hygiene work.
From there, I encountered periodontists and orthodontics, and as I got hooked on the fascination of the dental world,
Dental hygiene is interesting!
Dental hygiene is fun!
By mixing what I learned in psychology with my knowledge of orthodontics, I became able to logically explain why people end up with missed spots when brushing.
It became even more and more fun.
And that brings me to where I am now✌️
I will continue to do my best from here on out✊
