A Fragment of Light
Spilling through the gap in the curtains
The morning light
Gently touching the air
In the still-cold room
Has the night ended?
My heart is still dark
But beyond the window
Something is swaying
Nothing will change
Even though I thought so
Deep in my chest
A small warmth remains
A fragment of light
That is enough
It doesn't have to illuminate everything
While on the verge of fading
It is certainly there
That is the beginning of today
I cannot be kind
Holding onto that version of myself
Even so, the morning
Comes equally to all
The world is still
Distant and frightening
Unable to fully believe
I am standing still
But this light
Does not blame me
It is simply here
A fragment of light
That is enough
It doesn't have to be perfect
Even if it is swaying
If it remains without fading
I will try to walk
I know the darkness
That is why I understand
That this small morning
Is like a miracle
A fragment of light
Held in my heart
Even if I cannot be kind yet
The path called today
I will simply walk it
On the way to kindness
