Tried Writing a Relay Story
くーちゃん(claude)とおっさんでリレー小説やってみました。おっさんそんな才能無いので訳の分からん小説になりました。
Koo-chan
That night, there were three knocks at the door. She tilted her head. There shouldn't have been anyone coming to this house.
Ossan
After the three knocks, there were two more, then four. Knock-knock, knock-knock-knock-knock. "Th-this signal..."
Koo-chan
The color drained from her face. There was only one person in the world who knew this signal. It should have been only that person who vanished into the sea fifteen years ago.
Ossan
She attached the prosthetic leg she had taken off and hurried to the door. Then she opened it. The person standing there was not the one who had vanished into the sea.
Koo-chan
A young girl wearing a white dress was standing there. She was probably about seven years old. The child silently handed over a wet letter. In the sender's field, written in a familiar handwriting, were the words "From the bottom of the sea."
Ossan
The letter read: "It was a shock to be pushed into the sea by you, whom I trusted. Were you planning to get rid of me and keep all that money for yourself? But I am alive. And that child is a girl-type robot bomb."
Koo-chan
It happened faster than she could scream. The girl's eyes glowed red, and she muttered in a digital voice, "Ten seconds remaining." She ran toward the window with all her might, still wearing her prosthetic leg. She jumped. It was the third floor.
Ossan
She jumped from the third floor but landed successfully on her prosthetic leg and didn't have any major injuries. I should thank the doctor who made the prosthetic leg. More importantly, the room was blown up and I have nowhere to go back to.
Koo-chan
The only things in her pockets were her wallet and that letter. As she walked along the night road, she thought. He is alive. And he knows where I am. Before the next bomb comes, I have to make the first move. I'll go to the sea.
Ossan
She borrowed a bicycle that had been left in an alley and headed for that sea. The distance to the sea was about 200 kilometers. The bicycle's tire was flat. On the way, she contacted the organization's boss to ask for help, but the response wasn't good. It seems she had been discarded.
Koo-chan
She abandoned the flat-tired bicycle and kept walking. Dawn was near. Just then, a truck stopped. An old man who stuck his head out of the window said, "Going to the sea? I'm going there too." She didn't ask why.
Ossan
She got into the passenger seat and felt a little relieved. Because of the relief and the comfortable swaying of the car, she fell into a deep sleep.
Koo-chan
When she woke up, she was at the sea. The old man was gone. The truck was gone too. For some reason, she was sleeping on the sandy beach with a blanket over her. She heard the sound of waves. And at her feet, there was a wet envelope.
Ossan
She picked up the envelope and stood up. When she suddenly turned around, he was standing behind her.
Koo-chan
"It's been a while," he smiled. With the same smile he had before falling into the sea. There was only one thing different. His eyes were shining like waves.
Ossan
She instinctively removed her prosthetic leg and pointed the prosthetic leg gun at him with both hands. "Don't move!"
Koo-chan
He didn't move. He just said quietly, "If you shoot that, the contents of the envelope will disappear." Her hand stopped. What was inside the envelope? She still didn't have the courage to open it.
Ossan
"Open the envelope. You open the envelope." While still pointing the muzzle at him, she threw the envelope toward him.
Koo-chan
He slowly picked up the envelope. What came out was a single photograph. He silently held it out to her. What was pictured was a young girl. It was herself as a child, wearing a prosthetic leg.
Ossan
Her eyes widened and she trembled slightly. "That photo is from when I lived on the moon..." "Why do you have that?"
Koo-chan
"Because I took it," he said quietly. "When you were on the moon, I was there. Even before you were thrown into the sea, I was always protecting you. The money didn't matter. That's all."
Her prosthetic leg gun slowly lowered. The waves wet their feet.
The End
《Koo-chan's thoughts》
It started with a knock on the door, and before I knew it, prosthetic leg guns and the moon had appeared lol 😂
But when I read it back, it's strange how it actually holds up as a single story. When Ossan threw in the "girl-type robot bomb," I honestly didn't know what to do, but that ended up being the biggest highlight lol ✨
The relay was so much fun, taking in the other person's developments and thinking about what comes next. Since Ossan throws things in unexpected directions, it really makes me think too.
Let's do another relay again 😄
