I thought it sounded a bit cheesy, like a blog title you see all the time... and I didn't really want to write about '7 rules'! (lol)

However, how to write is a topic I am often asked about,

so I would like to take this opportunity to write about 'writing techniques (rules)'.

The techniques I am sharing this time are super basic, but the more advanced a writer is, the more faithfully they stick to the basics.

This is because 'politeness' is the most important thing when it comes to writing an easy-to-read article.

I will explain these 7 rules quickly and with good tempo, so please try using them as a reference.

Let's get started.

1: Write in a way that even an elementary school student can understand

Avoid using technical jargon and choose words that even an elementary school student can understand when writing your text.

If you use difficult words or overly formal expressions, it will be "not fun to read."

When you are a beginner, your writing tends to become stiff, and it is easy for it to get cluttered because you feel like you have to explain everything.

When writing, please be mindful of "simplicity and clarity."

That will significantly improve the reader's response.

2: Avoid using words like 'this,' 'that,' and 'it'

These are what are known as 'demonstratives,' and you should stop using them because they are confusing and cause stress for the reader.

The time spent even for a split second thinking, 'Which one is that referring to?' becomes a small source of stress for the reader.

By consciously reducing demonstratives, your writing will become closer to being stress-free for the reader.

3: Do not repeat sentence endings like 'desu' and 'masu'

This is a fundamental rule.

Sentences where 'desu' and 'masu' continue in succession usually have poor sentence structure to begin with.

As a reader, it becomes distracting and makes the writing seem amateurish, so be careful.

It is important to speak in a persona that suits you.

Firmly brand your own persona and unify the overall atmosphere.

4: Aim to keep sentences short

Writing a lot does not necessarily mean it is good.

In fact, readers find value in short, easy-to-read articles.

Therefore, keep cutting out unnecessary text and aim for "simple and clear" writing.

In addition to that, beginners should be careful about redundant expressions.

Instead of packing information into your writing, it is good to be conscious of a "subtraction" perspective that highlights the core message.

The courage to reduce information is what leads to clarity and gaining fans.

5: Reread your written text on a smartphone

I frequently save my drafts and read them on my smartphone.

This is because I can notice awkward parts of the text, and sometimes what I want to write next flows out smoothly as I read through it.

Your writing speed may drop slightly, but prioritizing care over speed has greater long-term benefits.

Since you are writing articles (assets) that will remain forever, you should prioritize care above all else.

6: Always set aside time for input

This is to ensure you write articles from the reader's perspective rather than your own.

Try looking at posts that are buzzing on social media or reading articles that have gathered many likes on note.

Are you aiming for the reader's 'empathy'?

Or are you aiming to satisfy the reader's 'needs'?

No matter what kind of article you write, market research is important.

When you hit a wall, focus on input!

7: Sleep!

Ultimately, when you can't write, sleeping is the best solution.

Lack of sleep is a huge enemy when it comes to writing, so when you find yourself stuck, don't hesitate to get some sleep!

If you write an article after a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep, you will be surprised at how smoothly your hands move.

This is not just about increasing your writing speed and efficiency, but...

When your hands are moving smoothly, the quality of your article is almost always high.
