I Can't Keep Going to This Company! That Day, I Decided to 'Make a Living Only Through Writing.'

Today, I'd like to talk a little bit about the past.

'I want to quit my job!!'

I seriously felt that way around May 2019.

It was when I had started working on an online business while working as a company employee.

That day was an incredibly pleasant, clear day, typical of Hokkaido.

Early summer in Hokkaido has such clear air and soft light that there are days when you think 'Just being outside today makes me happy.' right?

The moment I left the house to go to work as usual,

this feeling suddenly welled up inside me.

'I don't want to go to work today; I want to go somewhere else just like this.'

Every company employee has thought that at least once, right?

Usually, I would just pretend not to notice and head to work, but that day was different.

I called the office and,

“I’m sorry, I’m not feeling well, so please let me take the day off.”

I just skipped work.

I went for a walk, sat on a park bench, and stared blankly at the sky.

I probably looked like a salaryman who had just been laid off. (laughs)

But at that moment, what I felt more strongly than guilt was“a sense of liberation.”

And that’s when I realized it.

“I hate a life tied down by time.”

“I want a life where I can go wherever I want on a clear, sunny day!”

Until then, I had been working hard thinking that having a certain amount of money was enough, but

that was the day I realized that what I really wanted was“time I could use freely.”

Skipping work is certainly not an action to be praised, but

thanks to that day, I was able to find“the goal of my life.”

Once you can see the goal, the things you need to do become simple all at once.

So, what do I need to do to achieve that future?

I started thinking about it naturally.

▼ There are actually only two ways to gain financial and time freedom

That is to become an investor or a business owner.

When you hear this, you might think,No way, that's impossible, but it's not such an exaggerated story.

You don't need to build a grand company, and you don't even need to take on risks.

Just find a small business you think you can handle, and focus entirely on working on that.

Seven years ago, I chose a content business, earning money through writing.

Even someone like me,

• a graduate of a low-tier university,

• who failed miserably at job hunting,

• with no talent,

• and who is bad at putting in effort,

even a person like that,

by honing their writing skills, was able to start earning money with just one PC.

To stay home, keep a low profile, and make a living solely through writing.

I believe this is the last resort for those who 'have nothing'.

Because I felt, 'This is the only way!' I studied properly, and that is why I am where I am today.

And now, in 2026, I am growing my account with note as my core platform and expanding my business.

It is subjective, but I truly believe that is the case.

note is the platform where you can most easily become a business owner.

You can have your assets (articles) hosted for free in a place where so many people can see them.

Since the design is the same for everyone, it doesn't turn into a competition of design skills or who is more stylish.

It is a competition of writing ability. That is all.

Why is note so popular?

Whether short videos become trendy, virtual spaces are created, or space travel becomes commonplace,

'people who love writing' will always exist in a certain number.

Google is casting aside individual bloggers,

and while social media is becoming a hellish tool of abuse,

there is no way a platform that acts as a superior version of Ameblo wouldn't become popular.

In fact, I believe note will continue to grow even more from here on out.

Writing will not perish, so it's just a matter of which platform will be used.

I believe note is at the forefront of that.
