Mother's Diary (Stories and Haiku)
Mother's Diary (Story)
Tearing up the diary pages, mackerel clouds spread out
Oh, this is...
Mother's diary.
I flip through the diary.
Precious treasures spill out with a glow.

A first cry in the season of fragrant osmanthus
"I will never forget the day you were born as long as I live."
The lovely scent of osmanthus.
Happy faces, faces, faces were all turned toward you.
The precious day my precious child was born."
Autumn weather, the voices of children running about echo
"Growing up healthy and strong is what matters most."
Bring on the mud play. The laundry is a chore, but that's okay. Keep growing."
Autumn day, a shadow hat taller than mother's back
"You've grown a bit too much. You've become cheeky. But I'm happy about that. Really, I am."
Autumn fruit, rewinding the camera film
"I want to keep these beautiful, precious treasures in my heart forever. I wish this time would last forever. Because you are my precious family."
Long autumn night, two mugs in the sky
"We talked so much, didn't we? Warm coffee and tea. We really have so many memories."
I don't want to sleep yet, so I watch the autumn stars
"Thank you. Your sleeping face. I gently tuck you in with a blanket. I wish I could stay like this with you forever, sharing this happiness. But one day, you will leave the nest. I was prepared for it, though."
After the autumn rain, today is different from yesterday
"Since you left the nest, I feel a little lonely. But, well, that's just how it is. I won't let you notice it. I'll tell you that I'm living my life freely and at ease. You must live your own life. Be happy."
From far away, we talk through letters on an autumn night
"Thank you for your letter. I am truly happy. It feels like you are right here by my side. Thank you. Thank you so much."

Visiting the grave in the season when spider lilies bloom
......Mother. Thank you.
Carrying various thoughts, the autumn wind blows
Mother. Were you able to go to where Father is? Were you able to meet Grandma and Grandpa?
I am doing well. The family is doing well, too.
Your grandchild is also growing up healthy and strong.
I wonder if I can become like you, Mother?
Mother. Thank you so much for raising me.
Mother. Thank you.
