If you're unsure what to write on note, decide on your 'core question' before looking for topics
This is the note monetization series.
I want to write on note.
But I can't find any topics.
If you look at other people's notes,
many potential themes come to mind.
Yet, the more you look,
the more you wonder, "What should I be writing about?"
and get lost...
Does this ever happen to you?
Lately, I feel like more people are struggling to choose topics,
rather than just not having any.
There are so many helpful posts out there
that it seems like you should be writing about all of them.
As a result,
I think people lose sight of what kind of writer they are.
So, this time,
・Why do you get more lost the more you look at other people's posts?
・What should you decide first so you don't get lost looking for topics?
I would like to talk about these two things.
Not "what to write," but "what to answer"
Why does the confusion start when you look at other people's articles?
To put it simply, it's because you don't have a standard for choosing topics.
Every theme looks interesting.
Every article looks like something you could write, too.
That's why the more you look, the harder it is to choose.
This standard for choosing topics is what is known as your"core message axis."
The symptom of having your focus drift
because you're consuming too much information.
I feel like this has become much more common since AI became widespread.
How should you decide on your core focus?
So, how should you decide on your core focus?
The simplest way is to
think about what question you are going to be the person who answers.
That is the key.
For example,
"How can people who are bad at sales get others to choose their products naturally?"
"How can people with little experience turn their background into useful articles?"
"How can people who want to use AI write in their own unique voice?"
Something like that.
If you put it into a template,
"How can [type of person] do [action]?"
That's it.
One thing I want you to be careful about here is
not trying to create a grand, impressive question.
Things you have struggled with in the past
Things you have used trial and error to figure out
Things you still want to think through together with your readers
The point is to think of grounded, down-to-earth questions like these.
Articles that answer the same question will connect later on
Designing this question is
extremely important for turning your note into an asset.
If you answer a different question in every article,
readers will finish after reading just one.
That is because they have no reason to move on to the next article.
However, if all your articles connect to the same big question,
you can arrange them according to the reader's needs.
For example,
“How can someone with little experience turn their experiences into useful articles?”
If you are posting about this, you can connect them like this:
First, write an article for people who can't find topics
↓
Next, write an article for people who have topics but can't write them down
↓
For those who can now write articles, write about how to create paid notes
↓
For those who have started selling, write about newsletters and product funnels
By deciding on a big question in advance like this,
even if the themes are different, you will be able to answer the same question in all of them.
Increase the number of articles that answer the same question.
Then, the articles will connect as a 'line' rather than as 'dots'.
This is the turning point between whether your note ends as a one-off
or accumulates as an asset.
P.S.
Actually, before your content focus,
there is one thing you should decide first.
That is your 'personal core'.
Before 'what questions of the reader you will answer (content focus)',
you need the foundation of your true feelings: 'how you want to be (personal core)'
so that your focus doesn't waver.
Content Focus
“What questions of the reader will I answer? (Reader perspective)”
Personal Core
“How do I want to be? (Self perspective)”
If the foundation of your personal core is shaky,
no matter how much you think about the reader while writing,
you will eventually find it exhausting to keep writing.
By the way, you can just follow the template to determine your personal core.

Next time, I will write about
the biggest difference between those who run out of steam after writing just one paid note and those who can keep writing a second and third one
