He saw me without makeup and said one thing, and my inner self went into a rage.
A comment he made after seeing a photo of me without makeup.
"That's good."
Does anyone here understand the interpretation of that comment immediately?
When I asked him, "Huh, what do you mean?" and listened closely to what he had to say,
"I'm glad you don't look like you're wearing 'fraud makeup' without it."
That seems to be what he meant.
Huuuh???
I thought.
I almost let out a low growl from the bottom of my gut.
Honestly, I think it was written all over my face.
No, no, no, no.
It's not like you're inspecting cattle for shipment.
I mean, I guess I passed the test this time, but that's not the point, is it?
In the first place, do you even have the face to be judging other people's looks?
I was on the verge of launching a pointless attack. (Of course, I held back.)
That was close, that was close.
I get it. I get the sentiment.
They say 90% of a person is their appearance, right?
Scientifically? Or is it social psychology? I don't know much about it, but
it's a fact that humans inevitably have a bias toward appearance.
We are lovers, after all.
Whether someone's appearance is to your taste is important, isn't it?
I have my own preferences for men's looks, too.
He surely wouldn't say something like that to someone he just met,
so it probably just slipped out because we were close enough to let our guard down.
But isn't that awful?
And what's with that condescending attitude that's faintly seeping through?
Even if I were wearing what you call 'fraud makeup,' so what?
Are you going to say, 'This isn't what I signed up for!'?
If that happened, you should be falling in love with me all over again, thinking, 'She tried so hard with her makeup just for me!'
That was the storm raging inside me in that moment.
I think it all raced through my mind in about one or two seconds.
The 'good girl' version of me at the time,
I think I just ended it with something like, 'Oh, I see, that's good then.'
Though I think my voice sounded pretty cold.
If it were me now, I'd probably point it out while turning it into a joke.
Also, while I wouldn't do it, I think having a full-blown argument is also an option.
I broke up with him after that.
I've recently started to think that whether or not you can properly align your values during times like that
is what determines if you can stay together comfortably for a long time.
Today was the 37th day of my daily posts.
