In Praise of Aging Part 2: The Chapter on How Bangs Finally Suit Me!
My trademark look is black hair and glasses.
Saying it like that makes it sound like a stylish choice, but in reality, I just find frequent dyeing to be a hassle and contact lenses don't suit me.
However, as a small act of defiance, I take care of my hair's shine and wear stylish round glasses.
For many years, my hairstyle has fluctuated between a short bob without bangs and a medium bob.
I like hairstyles that don't require much effort.
Since my hair is stick-straight, maintaining its shine has also been a way to highlight my charm point.
However, perhaps because my face is plain, having black hair, glasses, and bangs makes me look like a frumpy middle schooler from the countryside.
I disliked that, so I always kept my bangs grown out.
But now, I'm reaping the benefits of aging!
Six months ago, for the first time in over ten years, I got bangs.
I no longer looked childish with bangs!!
On the contrary, it looked stylish!!!
They are short, heavy, and blunt, about one finger's width above my eyebrows.
Suddenly, I feel like I look more sophisticated and fashionable (or so I think).
I had heard about it, but it's true that what suits you changes as your facial features, body type, and age evolve.
It feels like a bonus to be able to enjoy things I had previously given up on because they didn't suit me.
Following that change in image, I am currently growing out the back of my hair.
Bobs are nice, but I've started to think that long, straight black hair or a chic chignon looks wonderful.
My hair is stick-straight, so it constantly slips out of hair ties, making it quite difficult to put up.
Even so, it has grown long enough that I can manage to tie it up somehow.
It seems like I have even more to look forward to from here on out.
Today was the 45th day of my daily posts.
