I bought the KZ EDC Pro on AliExpress for 530 yen, and I was shocked at how good it was
The other day, in the "Choice" section of AliExpress,
I bought a pair of wired earphones called the KZ EDC Pro for 530 yen.
This"Choice"section is often called the "100-yen shop" of AliExpress because it contains many
relatively inexpensive items.
If you buy several items together, you can get free shipping or discounts.
Since it's optimized for each individual like a recommendation list, you never know what will show up.
Also, you cannot search for products within "Choice."
There are several inconveniences, such as the checkout process being on a separate line from regular purchases.
My main goal, or rather what I wanted to buy, was NFC tags.
I wanted to buy more because I have more things I want to do with them.
However, since they are expensive to buy individually, I honestly chose the KZ EDC Pro as an add-on item.
You can never have too many earphones, after all.
Six days after ordering, everything I bought in the "Choice" section arrived all at once.
The earphones were shrink-wrapped and showed no signs of having been opened.
On Amazon, you sometimes get things that look like they've been opened, right?
The cable is an OFC (oxygen-free copper) flat cable.
It has no microphone.
What caught me off guard was the cable connector.
This cover-like part is made of silicone, and after plugging it in, this part fits snugly to ensure a secure connection.
I've bought KZ earphones several times, but this might be my first time seeing this silicone type.
The earpieces are also resin, but they have a glossy mirror-like finish?
They have a strangely luxurious feel.
They are lightweight and slightly small.
They should be easy to fit even for women with small ears.
The sound is also really good.
With the copper cable, although there is less of a V-shaped sound signature, the sound has depth and a sense of space.
What is this? Is it really okay to buy earphones like this for 500 yen?
That's no surprise, as they are apparently 2,000-yen class earphones.

Why are they being sold for 500 to 600 yen in "Choice"?
EDC Pro Specs
It is a so-called 1DD, equipped with a single 10mm high-sensitivity dynamic driver. This driver was independently developed by KZ and achieves low distortion and a wide dynamic range.
It has excellent response, especially in the low-frequency range, covering a wide frequency response from 20Hz to 40kHz. This allows for the reproduction of everything from deep sub-bass to fine nuances in the high range. With a low impedance of 23.5Ω, it can be driven efficiently even by low-output devices, supported by a sensitivity of 108dB.
The sound tuning is V-shaped, characterized by emphasized bass, clean and warm mids, and high-frequency extensibility that doesn't easily become metallic. The bass is fast and rich in texture, and the slightly emphasized mid-bass makes the overall sound feel full-bodied and musical. Because the distortion rate is low, it maintains clarity even when the volume is turned up, and the separation and imaging are also good, providing a surprisingly hi-fi experience considering the price range.
Especially with my OFC cable, it emphasizes a balanced and natural sound.
The EDC Pro is one of the latest models in the ED series, which is KZ's entry-level line.
Compared to the KZ EDX Pro, which can be purchased in the same price range in "Choice," the EDX Pro also uses a 10mm dynamic driver but adopts a dual magnetic circuit structure, with tuning that emphasizes natural low-frequency response and high-frequency transparency. The frequency response is 10Hz to 20kHz, which is narrower than the EDC Pro, and while it is slightly more sensitive with an impedance of 24Ω and a sensitivity of 112dB, the EDC Pro has a wider frequency range and superior high-frequency extensibility.
As for the difference in sound signature, the EDC Pro has a more powerful bass and richer mid-bass, making it more suitable for fun listening, whereas the EDX Pro tends to be more neutral with vocals that are clearer and more forward.
In reviews, the EDC Pro is evaluated as a slightly more evolved model than the EDX Pro, and while the strong bass impact is preferred by beginners, the EDX Pro is considered to be more flat and suitable for a variety of genres.
Recommendation for AliExpress "Choice"
Man, finding hidden gems like this is one of the joys of AliExpress.
It's a great purchase with quality you wouldn't expect at this price range.
KZ earphones are highly satisfying no matter which one you buy, so I recommend them when you're struggling with price adjustments.
