I read a lot for the Creative Award 2024.

Hello! I'm Noyagi, who reads
novels at the end of the year to read 100 works! I've been doing this 100-entry reading challenge for three years now, somehow or other. Thank you! It's exactly the same age as the Creative Award. Third year! Amazing!

Originally, I started reading a bunch of novels written that year at the end of the year because I thought, 'Novels are hard to get read on note, so I'll read them!' But now, note has completely become a platform where you can read novels! I'm so happy! I feel like a mysterious aunt or uncle figure!
I think both the writers and the readers are feeling that deeply.

And speaking of this year's Creative Award, it's even more exciting with the addition of horror, recipe, and business categories. Amazing! It's truly a creative festival!

It's surprisingly hard to find.

Yes, Creative Award entries are surprisingly hard to find.
note doesn't allow searching by creator x tag, and even if you try to find them through the #CreativeAward2024 or category tags, there are so many due to the low barrier to entry that the sheer volume is overwhelming...
(Though that lack of barriers is also a great thing about the Creative Award...!!)

The display on the official note top page is limited, and because of the structure of the awards, I feel like Creative Award entries don't easily show up in 'Today's Featured Articles,' so they are quite hard to find...

In that case, here it is!

A third-year affair. An extra edition outside of the end-of-year period.

First, the volume, the sheer amount of text, you only know it if you read it. There are things you learn (probably) by reading 100 works!
There were ups and downs, like when Elon put a mask on and likes couldn't be seen (a huge crisis), and then he had a change of heart and they could be seen again (thank goodness), but I managed to read 100 works! To everyone who liked my posts and recommended their favorites, thank you!!!

Reading was so fun that once, while I was reading on my morning commute, I looked up and realized I was at the Tama River. It was early summer, and the weather was beautiful. I gave up on a lot of things that day. Anyway, I've compiled them!

High-heat oil and deepening stories that you keep stuffing into your belly. The balance of humidity and dryness in a single situation is amazing, and the smooth sense of relief is so comfortable, I love it... Read it...!!

2. The Story of How It Wasn't Just My Outlook on Life That Changed When I Went to India

Sometimes you can see yourself by diving in headfirst. It's a turbulent trip to India that feels like bathing in culture, yet the perspective is gentle and relaxed. I want to go to India someday! Even though I'm scared!

3. Public Baths to Soothe the Soul

A bath and a drink to tune your body, mind, and soul. The lady running it has such great character! It's the best...!!
I really love essays that scoop up and depict this kind of life and daily routine. I love it.

4. Having Something to Believe In

Something to believe in that becomes the backbone of your heart or the axis of your thoughts. I'm a bit of a drifter myself, but I wonder if there's actually something there if I look for it. A piece that takes a relaxed look at everyone's individual values. I love it.

5. A Place Where Someone Is

As someone who was a kid who would head to the library for no reason, this hit me right in the heart... Ah, I found myself bowing in gratitude that there are people who provide such places; it was so appreciated. A place where someone is, where you can be—that's amazing.

6. [Novel] Test for Echo: Episode 1

The hook of the synopsis is so strong...!! The horror offensive from a fresh angle and the meta-perspective within the story are terrifying... My brain is being buried by "me"... But I can't stop reading... What is this—!!!!

7. Collecting Beautiful Weaknesses 001: "Glowing Fuzz"

There are things that get a spotlight once they are named, things you start to find in your daily life. Both beauty and weakness are observations, and there is a solid core there. The feeling of being organized by the careful prose is beautiful...! Good stuff...!!

8. The Night I Visited a Gay Bar in Search of Life's Answers

Strong episodes and experiences can easily throw you off balance, but isn't it amazing how it starts like a roller coaster and then lands with an ultra-C move? Isn't the dirty humor amazing? Even though I was an outsider just peeking in from the sidelines, the sudden dive into an eye-opening ending that hits me right here—isn't it amazing? I was completely taken... It's too crazy, I love it, I love it.

9. Women Are All About the Hip Joints

Regardless of gender, the power of the opening that makes you nod without question and the sumo-like power heading toward the punchline is so satisfying, dosukoi. It's fun and amazing how it develops so quickly in such a short text. I love it. Dosukoi.

10. The apprentice grows on their own, but the master never grows at all.

On the obi of a Saint-Exupéry paperback, there was something written—I think it was Hayao Miyazaki, though my memory is hazy—about how 'there are things that can only be written by someone who has flown in the sky,' and I feel the same way about Hashima-san. There are things that can only be written by someone who has trained diligently. There is a sense of humor. No matter how many times I read it, it's good. By all means! I love it.

11. Landscape A4-sized contemporary art. How were the 'ponchi-e' (political cartoons) of Kasumigaseki born? What is their unknown mission?

I love beauty born from necessity, like posters in community centers or boards with keys attached in gymnasiums, and the ultimate form of that was digital. It makes me want to try deconstructing the data in PowerPoint once, that maze-like feeling... The perspective, the angle, the punchline's smooth delivery. It's incredibly interesting and just too good...!! I love it.

12. I feel like I can answer the question from that day now.

In every profession, there are moments where you just have to swallow the 'that's just how it is,' but there are times when you fall into a hole through a series of choices about what to do, whether you can't do anything, or whether you won't do anything. There were. A letter written gently, straight, and with a little humor added. It's a letter addressed to someone, but an essay that makes me glad I could read it. I love it.

13. An unexpected way to eat it! 'I'll repeat this,' 'I want to try it immediately' regarding the surprising arrangement of Choco Monaka Jumbo.

There is a deeper chasm than the Bosphorus Strait between thinking of something and actually doing (or having done) it, but this is an exciting feeling that makes you want to try it! A recipe without any pretense, it's really great... It's mischievous and I love it. Summer is coming!

14. The Brain Teacher of the Mermaid Mansion (Episode 1 / 26 Episodes total)

A story that begins fantastically. The colors and sounds circulate in my head, providing fun stimulation, and to think it would start showing horror elements from here...!! The sense of emotion, as if there is no exit, is captivating... It's good. By all means.

15. People are moved when they transcend dimensions.

The sensation of having your imagination evoked by encountering a work, and the emotion that occurs when that transcends a certain point. The examples of photography and painting made me nod in agreement... I want to create things that move people, that make them move. I love it.

16. [Creative Award 2024 Entry] What is 'normal'?

A piece that makes you go 'That's right!' in just the first two lines, making you groan in agreement. What is normal? Perhaps it's something you have no choice but to find from yourself, from within yourself, and from the outside. Writing that carefully spells out thoughts, it's good. I love it.

17. Novel 'Waking Up One Morning' Chapter 1

The output of emotion is different for everyone. From the hands, from sound, from the voice. The writing that feels like a quiet dialogue with oneself and the room for imagination regarding the drama that will unfold from here is dazzling... What will happen...!? It's one that makes me curious! Good!

18. I can't write a romance novel. / Lesson 1: 'What is love!?'

The tumultuous opening of a rolling stone! It has power and is great. The title, the synopsis, and the opening are all incredibly gripping!!! I get restless watching the interaction between the two... I can't help but end my sentences with 'wa ne' (a feminine particle) now... By all means! I love it.

19. 5 selections of 'that phrase' I love from this comedian, rather than 'I like this comedian,' by a cram school teacher.

The frame of 'like' is different for everyone, and finding that helps you understand yourself better. Every phrase is one that sticks, and when transcribed into text, the impression is even stronger...! I laughed so hard at Megaton Punch Man! I love it.

20. Is the theory that "tidying up makes you happy" true?

An essay written based on real-life experiences, from the blacked-out Volvo at the beginning to the margins of life. Ah, I get it! I get it, but it's a tough one! Still, I'm glad you wrote about such an important point. Reading things like this really motivates me! I love it.

21. That is not plagiarism! [Episode 1] [Total 4 episodes]

Where does creativity end and begin? It's a situation that makes me feel uneasy, thinking it could never happen, but maybe one day it could... The link between the main plot and the protagonist's current life and work creates such a great sense of restlessness!! This is the kind of story where you just have to know what happens next!! You must read it!!!

22. Etude of a 24-year-old

The power of passion destroys laziness, overcomes resignation, organizes life, and creates. Above all, the fact that you had the strength to bite the bullet and keep going is absolutely amazing! A straightforward, honest essay with a refreshing writing style. It's great. I love it.

23. Do you still have hair? [Essay Category Entry]

Once you become curious and that question enters your mind, there are some things you just can't stop thinking about... If you look closely, there's hair removal everywhere in the city and on the trains...! Humanity is on the verge of exterminating hair... A fun, witty essay that captures your attention! You must read it!

24. Novel "Hello from Gengetsu-yu" Episode 1 (Total 15 episodes)

When you pour your passion into something, the recoil when it breaks is just as strong. Hmm... I feel for the protagonist who still shows a core of strength amidst such a heavy, membrane-like situation. I can't help but want to cheer them on...! A development that makes me curious about what happens next, please find a way to recover...!! I love it.

25. Because translation is a lonely job

Although it has eased up quite a bit now, there was a period where small talk had dried up in every company, which felt sad. As a freelancer, if you're doing translation work, I imagine that feeling is even more intense... The hook in the first two lines was so strong that I found myself nodding along as I read it (even though I don't know translation)...! I love it.

26. The size of love nurtured in Japan's smallest prefecture [Episode 1] [For Creative Award]

Caught by the nuances of the title, I was drawn into the aroma of fragrant coffee. Ah, there was a shop like this in my hometown...! The stage is set in a way that makes me feel nostalgic, and the drama that starts here looks like it will be fun...! The colleagues who straightforwardly convey their kindness are also great. You must read it!!

27. Novel: Resonance of Petrichor ①

Isn't it satisfying how the story moves at full throttle from the beginning, drawn in by the gravitational pull of the tumultuous synopsis??? ...And then, a mystery~~~!!!! It's so intriguing that I don't even mind the mysteries anymore!!! The cliffhanger for each episode is strong, and it really makes you want to keep reading...! You must read it!

28. "Good morning, me" ① (Short story series & Music) Episode 1

There are things you just can't swallow precisely because they are honest feelings without malice. The introduction, which just makes me want to wish for everyone's happiness, is really good... A story born from music, and music born from a story. I'm sure you'll want to listen to it, and the music is further ahead in the reading! You must read it!

29. [Pork Shabu-shabu] This is what happens when someone who hates the ordinary makes it.

Shabu-shabu is great because you can boil it with any vegetables, arrange it according to nutritional needs, and eat it refreshingly! It's fun to add toppings, isn't it~~~! It was a fun piece with an essay-like feel for the recipe category! You must read it!

30. When I try to write to you, words just come pouring out.

Actually, I used to dislike and be bad at writing book reports too, but when you have a proper 'reading' before the 'writing,' it really makes you want to write! I want to share good things, and the writing that comes from truly thinking something is wonderful is wonderful itself. I totally get the feelings that can't fit into an X post~~~!!! It's the best. I love it!

There are things you only realize or discover once you try writing them down. And then, it's fun to be confused, to lose track, or to gradually understand. It would be great if you could find the outline of 'something'~~~! This essay will surely resonate with those who write; it was good!

32. #19 Takao Osawa and the Missing Hostess

The title is so strong that I couldn't help but scroll, and then I was drawn in by the frank writing style. The jump and landing at the end are vivid, a little sad, and leave such a lingering feeling~~~! This kind of thing leaves a scene gently etched in your mind! It's good! You must read it!!

33. August Without the Galactic Emperor ①

The power of that first line of the synopsis. And then the turbulent development from everyday life...! There are many sci-fi terms, but you can read through without feeling out of place, and the protagonist says when they don't understand something, so you can keep pace with them. It's a kind introduction, so it's good~~~! The girl-meets-boy element and the space setting make for a super story-like feel; it was good! You must read it!!

34. "Judgment Paradox" Episode 1

Even with the filter of the synopsis, the timeline and a sense of unease seep into every word and phrase, making it quite the mystery~~~! Even though it's just the introduction, the monologue style draws you in, and it gives me the chills...!! It's the kind of story that makes you lose sleep because you're so curious about what happens next!!! This one!!!

35. "Until He and He Sleep." Episode 1

Just having the worldview and visuals of the synopsis at the beginning makes the imaging so different and interesting! The conversation between the two and the difference in their temperatures is frustrating and makes my heart ache... It's the kind of story where you get curious about what lies at the end of their journey...!! I love it.

36. What I saw after writing a diary when I'm someone who can't keep things up

The hook in the first two lines is the best. Seriously, I totally get that, I'm the same... That's right... There are things you see or find in the life that gets archived by continuing... A great SNS post! Good~~~!!

37. In a world where you never 'get better'

I couldn't help but groan at the text written from the realization of 'losing something suddenly one day.' There is a huge valley between 'understanding' and 'knowing,' but trying to understand is necessary, and I groaned again at the strength of the unpretentious words of the patients at the end. A world where you never 'get better' is something that could happen to anyone. My imagination, experience, and background are far from enough, but there are people who write about it so gently, and I'm glad I could read it. I love it.

38. The story of how I went to Dubai to become a dancer but quit in one night

I think core emotions and strength are necessary in creation and expression, but above all, I think it's great to continue loving it and to keep at it. When you encounter something wonderful, there are times when your own work looks weak and childish in comparison... It's a wall that everyone hits to some degree when the resolution of their work increases. It was a lovely essay with a frank writing style. I love it!

39. How a loser middle-aged woman started a life of emigration from almost zero

The strength of the first line and the jump! I love it so much... followed by a journey of clearing various hurdles while properly taking care of myself. The way the emotions and events are written is so frank, it really touches the heart... There are moments when you encounter a book or words that are 'the one' for your life without even trying. It's good! You must read it~~~!!!

40. [Creative Award 2024 Entry] Marshall 4 Season #1

I absolutely loved the opening and closing lines of #1; both had such effective hooks. The hard-boiled vibe and the sense of speed work perfectly, and the writing style really hits home. I can see a lot of obstacles ahead, but please, just be happy—Nobu!! I'm curious to see what happens next. Definitely check it out!

41. I'm here, I'm here.

Memories, records, and recollections—they seem shared, but they are often from completely different angles. I used to hate it when relatives at gatherings would say, 'You were like this when you were little,' because it was embarrassing, but I wonder if, once I've matured a bit more, I'll be able to accept it gently like this someday. A piece that is subtle, yet startling. I love it. Definitely check it out.

42. My Lawn Hasn't Withered, Episode 1: 'Chika and Nagi' (16 episodes total)

Even when circumstances are different—or rather, precisely because they are—there are bonds that somehow persist. This is especially true with people you shared that 'somehow invincible' time with in high school or college. There are moments when the protagonist of your life changes, and the way Nagi cuts straight to the point is comforting, yet it hits so hard...!! I love it.

43. I thought I had abandoned the desire to 'become someone'

The words Yamada-san writes are straightforward, simple, and unadorned, which is exactly why they strike so deep...! The strength of a single, gentle, yet lethal blow... After stripping everything away, that's where you end up, isn't it! A text that can only be written by someone who has been through it—definitely check it out. I love it.

44. Mika Shirayuki Can't Get a Boyfriend! Episode 1

The lighthearted narrative style, the naming sense, and the fact that I will probably never see such a full-on retort to a Frappuccino ever again... Yes. Are you ready? One, two, 'It's a Frappuccino?!'
It's a fun mid-length story that moves comically while staying true to the core desire of wanting to change for the person you love. So good~~!!

45. The story of the first time I got food poisoning in my life: A food poisoning report from an idol otaku

It's a pretty dire situation, but I couldn't help but laugh at this!!! The sensation of suddenly stepping outside of yourself and looking at things coldly becomes addictive... lol
No, um, please go easy on the calories and alcohol!! Even as a total stranger, I can't help but say, 'Take care of yourself!!!' Seriously, take care!!!

46. The story of a nameless band that ended in a garage

Just... the drama in this opening...!! There is a loneliness that can only be tasted when the world is closed off. Even as you move forward, it's something you keep remembering. Seriously, a piece that makes memories you never had cycle through your head. I love it so much. The punch at the end is just too good...

47. Kuroda Manufacturing Story, Episode 1 #CreativeAward2024

A solid narrative with an introduction that shows the protagonist of the story is the place, the technology, and the hands themselves. And I am moved by the strength of the people... It really is people and episodes that connect us to histories and worlds we don't know... A novel that makes you feel the power of storytelling. Definitely check it out!

48. Scattering in winter, blooming in spring

It's fun to see how my heart reacts and what kind of images are evoked when I encounter prose or poetry like this. The rhythm and the white space feel unique to the internet, and it slips right into my emotions. So good... Definitely check it out!

49. The story of the senior who stuffed AA batteries in his ears

The combination of the title and the first line made me imagine all sorts of things, and I couldn't help but chuckle! The passage that follows as an introduction made me laugh again! What is this... I think we're probably from the same generation, but the temperature of that summer came flashing back, and by the end, I felt a bit touched... I love this 'what is this' power. Definitely check it out!

50. Mark of the Sky - Episode 1

I think the entry point to fantasy is always about whether or not you can get into the story, but don't worry, you can get into this one!
The way the world and the protagonists are shown as smoothly as flowing water is incredibly satisfying and amazing. Once you start liking the characters, the world suddenly becomes your own, doesn't it! It's also kind and delightful how the tension and relaxation are carefully managed. I loved how the character of the cut-in Lady Asafu shone...! Haha.
This is a must-read that draws you in with a vivid introduction.

51. Poisonous Nurturing - Episode 1 - Mitsuki Tajima

Both the synopsis and the title are unsettling, but it's a smooth read that doesn't get stuck anywhere. The feeling of a funeral where your heart can't keep up, the strangely realistic touch makes me feel restless... It's a mystery with a touch of sci-fi and horror. I'm curious! Definitely check it out!

52. The Show Must Go On.

You really have to keep asking yourself over and over again... truly. Creating something and continuing to create, continuing to stand on stage, are worlds apart. A piece that burns with highly objective introspection. It makes me groan... It was good. Definitely check it out.

53. Serial Novel | Spring, Sonata for Two #1

An introduction that immediately fills you with a longing you'd completely forgotten, the world of a small school, and the scent of youth, making your heart flutter and feel restless. That creation from back then, like a precious treasure, the feeling that you could only do it at that time is so dear... The way the tone and colors are captured is straightforward and refreshing! Definitely check it out.

54. Salon de Verde Personal Coordination Shopping Companion / Masumi Watanabe Edition

My knowledge of fashion is less than a grain of rice, so to be honest, there were many things I didn't understand, but no, that's exactly why it was fun to read about 'good work'! I mean, isn't it like weaving a miracle to coordinate a single set including the style, scene, life, and the before and after of one's life??? No wonder the tension goes up from the start... Good work comes to those who call it. It made me feel bright and happy~~! Definitely check it out!

55. Weak Writer and Strong Editor 1

The goal of creation is different for everyone, but since we tend to put ourselves down, I can really relate...! And since it's a world I don't know, I'm sure there are many people who want to read something like this??? The stamina to continue and the power of liking something enough to keep going are both important~~~! A theme that makes you curious and want to read it, it's good...!!

56. Sing of 'Love' Above All - Prologue

Eek!! With a heavy horror introduction and an unsettling occult vibe. I keep reading while wondering what's going on... High temperature and humidity, a summer horror that makes sweat trickle down your back. Definitely check it out... It's scary...!!

57. A 12-hour train trip with my son who is starting elementary school, the end of the journey I found going and coming back.

58. When I got hooked on the photography swamp

I nodded so much while reading this, seriously, smartphones are excellent for taking pictures while raising children... I tend to prioritize weight, but the way sato-san got hooked on the swamp and the transition was straightforward and really good, and it made me want to pick up a camera again. That's right, photography is super fun not as a record, but as a way to cut out the world. It's overflowing with love and it's really good. Definitely check it out! I love it.

59. 'If you were a celebrity, you'd be getting photographed'

Keeping an outsider's perspective is extremely important, but it makes me laugh because the title seems like it could be both a good thing and a curse. A short essay with a comical and straightforward writing style that feels good. I might have a day where I summon an imaginary paparazzi somewhere too... How terrifying...!!

60. What I learned from the profession of an overseas tour conductor

There is probably a moment in any job where you get serious at some point. Such moments are often triggered by failures, but learning and growing from them, and being able to look back on them, are the results of having taken things seriously at the time. Amazing. It's polite, frank, and it's great to read something that makes you happy! A miracle that comes around is the best kind of work essay. It's so good! I love it.

The joy of being able to say, 'It's finally finished!'—that feeling of happiness, impatience, and excitement mixed together is something only the creator can experience... The gap between unfinished and finished is as deep as the Mariana Trench. It really hit home. I also really loved how it stayed consistently focused on the detective aspect. It's just too good... You must read it!!!!

Even while staying at home, you can connect with the world and transcend time. Questions, praise, and messages sent by someone—it's just so wonderfully internet-like. An essay with a witty style that gets you hooked! You must read it!

I really love the atmosphere, the temperature, the humidity, and the sounds of this, even though I haven't experienced it myself... I've been looking forward to following the serialized chapters as they were added, and the colors and the ending...!! Ah, I think I'll call my parents for now! Summer! Please read it~~~ You must~~~! I love it too much. You must!

64. Bridge of Words [Episode 1]

I love the characters Umeko and Yo-chan! This is definitely from the perspective of someone who has interacted with each of them... An introduction that makes your heart race with a place like a warm perch and the shadow of unease that creeps in. You can't help but wish for happiness for such gentle characters. It's so good. You must read it!

65. Flower Garden Consultation Office Prologue

The shift in the first two lines is wonderfully comfortable, and as someone on the side that thinks, 'Exactly!', I couldn't help but empathize completely. From there, the hook at the end of the introduction pulls you right in and makes you read on... What's going to happen!? This is the kind that makes you curious! You must read it...!! What will happen???

66. Bones of an Ambiguous Creature

Since those who aren't directly involved can only know things after they have been output as information, whether it's text or video, the thoughts, choices, 'somehows,' and things beyond words that spilled out or were trimmed away are lost. But this was an essay written so carefully that I was smoothly drawn into reading it. I tend to easily fall into black-and-white thinking when I let my guard down, so it's amazing that you were able to write this without sticking to either axis. I'm glad I read it. I love it.

67. Drifting Girl | Episode 1 [Creative Award 2024] | Fantasy Novel Category

From the hook of the title to the tumultuous synopsis, it has the power to make you read even while thinking, '???' The situation is quite solid, but there's a strength to it that makes you laugh at some mysterious force. The pull of that cliffhanger!! What's going to happen here??? You must read it.

68. 'Returning to Purple' Episode 1 (I-1.2)

I think fantasy is really divided by whether you can enter the story at the entrance and feel it with a sense of touch, but I'm happy that I could read this smoothly thanks to the descriptions that carefully evoke episodes, temperatures, and colors. ...And then the cliffhanger at the end of the first episode and the expansion of the story! It's the kind of thing you tap on because you're curious! I love it. You must read it!

69. Dreams, Eels, and Omelet Rice Episode 1

The punch of the first line in both the synopsis and the main text! And seriously, even Buddha loses his temper!!! It has such a flowing, captivating pull that makes you want to cheer, 'Yes! Go for it!!!!' It's so powerful and great. I'm clenching my fists in a story that makes me want to say, 'Seriously, just be full and happy already!!!' This is definitely one you'll tap on for the second episode too. I love it.

70. The Reign of the Grotesque, Episode 1-1

When it comes to historical or period pieces, the point I'm most curious about is who is telling the story and from where, but this has a refreshing sense of action that moves forward powerfully in a very classic way. It was really great! It's fun to be able to read the imaging of a manga original work in text format! Definitely check it out!!

71. Lots of things happen, but I found a little happiness!

A series of deep, rich descriptions of daily life and the little bits of happiness found within it. Truly, maybe happiness lies just beyond picking up and collecting each little thing day by day... Writing, connecting, and finding it again, over and over. An essay that is uniquely 'note' and full of heart! It's good!

72. The time I thought I was going to die and called an ambulance

Kinoko and Takenoko have been around since I was a kid, but now that you mention it, why are they vegetables??? A surprising twist. I'd love to see this develop into an even bigger debate involving Choco Anpan, Every Burger, and Kinokori no Kirikabu. The description of the encounter with the mushrooms is so full of excitement, it's wonderful... I love it. Definitely check it out!

Maybe it's because I was also raised by my grandmother, or because I'm older now, or because I can understand both sides more. The frank storytelling and writing are just wonderful. I love it.

There were so many different genres, such a wide range, and such deep passions and obsessions—it was fun! I'm happy I got to read them!

However, there were quite a few I couldn't find even when I went to look after seeing a 'like'! The judges might read everything, but it's probably better to pin your post on X or pin your entry on note so that passersby can read it! If it takes several taps, the hurdle to reading it gets higher, after all...!!
