[Video Ver.] Compass for "How to Live" Vol. 23: Protecting Yourself
Hello everyone! This is Paper Counselor Yoshiyuki.
First of all,
Kishakoku-sensei has introduced my article.
It seems that many people these days feel that it is more profitable to do nothing than to risk failure. But is it really a failure if things don't go well?
I hope you will think carefully about the meaning of failure and that your perspective will change.
Kishakoku-sensei, thank you as always!
Now, let's get to the main topic.
I have revised the "Protecting Yourself" text article I posted previously and turned it into a video.
Below is the revised text article.
This time, I will talk about protecting yourself.
Much of what I talk about in this "Compass for How to Live" is based on the premise of "being useful to others and being a person who brings joy to others," and I share ways of living that will lead to your own happiness.
I have been sharing this with you all, convinced that if you live without looking away from that, it will lead to a fulfilling and happy life.
However, there are many different types of people in the world.
There are also people who are generally called "bad people."
If you practice what I have been teaching in this "Compass for How to Live," won't you be taken advantage of by "bad people"?
Let's ask a little bit about that.
Well, to start with the conclusion.
You don't need to be kind and gentle to people who use others, deceive them, or hurt them without a second thought.
That is what leads to "protecting yourself."
If you were a truly broad-minded person, you might be told to be kind and gentle even to bad people.
But if I were to tell you that right now, it would be a lie, as it is not something I possess myself.
I don't have that kind of broad-mindedness yet, so I'm telling you in advance that this is my current perspective.
Broadly speaking, there are "good people," "average people," and "bad people" in the world.
I will refer to people whose lives are going well as "upper-tier" and those whose lives are not going well as "lower-tier."
The terms upper and lower might not be appropriate, but I am using them for the sake of clarity, so please excuse me for that.
Unfortunately, it is said that people in the lower tier who are having a hard time are actually "good people."
I wonder if the people in the middle are "average people" or "bad people."
Then, what about the people in the upper tier?
They are also said to be "good people."
So, what is the difference between the "good people" in the lower tier and the "good people" in the upper tier? That is the answer I gave at the beginning.
People in the upper tier are not kind and gentle to people who use others, deceive them, or hurt them without a second thought.
I wonder if people in the lower tier are being kind and gentle even to such people.
First, look closely at the other person. If you are kind to someone you think is a bad person, you might be taken advantage of.
You should be kind and gentle to people you think are good.
You know, there are ways to face and interact with even bad people properly.
Why does the other person act that way?
There is a reason why they do that, isn't there?
You should show them proper understanding there.
It would be good if you could empathize with their heart, saying things like, 'It's been tough, hasn't it? It's been painful, hasn't it? It's been hard, hasn't it?'
What do you think?
Maki-chan, shall we have you share a message with everyone as well?
Yes! Then, I, Maki Tsurumaki, will share this with everyone.
You see, both the 'good people' at the top and the 'good people' at the bottom are kind and considerate to others.
They have the same kind of heart.
But, is there one thing that is different?
That is that they do not show kindness or consideration even to people they dislike.
Whether or not you can do that is what determines if you are a successful person at the top or an unsuccessful person at the bottom.
Is that okay? Objectively speaking, the 'good people' at the bottom are pitiful, aren't they?
They are people you really don't want to become, right?
I don't want you to end up like that.
Even so, there might be some people who say, 'Don't say it so easily. Isn't it hard because I can't do that?'
If so, can you have the resolve that even if bad things happen, no matter what, it is all 'my own fault'?
Those who understand, understand.
'No matter what happens, it is all my own fault.'
They do not blame people, the environment, or things.
Even if someone does something unpleasant to them, they understand that it is 'their own fault'.
Such things, in the end, lead to 'protecting yourself'.
Also, when you want to grow yourself, you don't look at things out of your reach.
You do the 'small things you can do' to get there.
If you keep accumulating 'small successful experiences' like that, your small confidence will turn into big confidence.
And then, when your capacity grows larger and larger, please forgive the people you dislike, too.
It's fine to do it at your own timing.
That also leads to 'protecting yourself'.
You, too, please protect yourself firmly and cherish yourself. Okay?
This time, we talked about 'protecting yourself'.
Thank you for staying with us until the end.
We have received "happy news!"
We are grateful for your warm support.
Thank you as always!
