I want to give curry a big squeeze 😋
A story about the taste of victory that was so delicious it made me want to hug the curry.
Those who clicked because of this title are probably wondering what this is about. If it were a person I wanted to squeeze, that would be interesting too, but today it's about curry ^^.
Today's menu was actually quite good.
I won with all my might (lol), yes.
Oh, it seems like new people have been reading lately, so I'll write a little explanation.
Winning means "I was able to enjoy my lunch." In these types of articles, I compare lunch to a "battle", and the content is usually a grueling task where I cram various things into a very short time during my weekday lunch, from selecting the menu to its composition, actually eating it, making a judgment, determining victory, and reflecting on what I learned.
I share the process and results with you all like this. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, and even when I lose, if I have any insights, I share them here.
Eating is an essential skill for survival, so there's no one who isn't interested in it. And while recipe books and gourmet reports out there are fine, I think you might get bored of them after reading a few because they are all similar.
In such cases, check out the magazine above. I write about what food for survival is in a fun, personified way, so if you read it with a warm, open mind thinking, "Oh, so that was the background," I think you might become a little more interested in food for survival.
Well, that's enough of an introduction, so let's talk about how I won today.
The menu is: Curry Beef, Karaage (fried chicken), Mr. Worcestershire Sauce, Mr. Miso Soup, and Mr. Fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables).
The ones with "Mr." attached are helpers I selected. Helpers are auxiliary ingredients that support the main dish in terms of taste and help you enjoy it more. They often appear in other articles in the magazine.
Now, for the main event, the Curry Beef, it's just Yoshinoya-style beef on top of curry. I chose karaage just in case that failed. And for the first time in a while, this choice was a huge hit.
I was able to continue the deliciousness to the point of entering a "probability variation" state where tokens just keep pouring out, throughout today's lunch battle.
The spicy kick of the curry and the sweetness of the onions
The umami and sweetness of the karaageThe umami and sweetness of the beef
The rich acidity and sweetness of the Worcestershire sauceThe umami, aroma, and faint sweetness of the miso soup
The refreshing acidity and sweetness of the fukujinzuke
Do you understand?
There is a different kind of sweetness in all of the items above. And when these tastes enter your mouth, they usually get mixed or subtracted, causing some to be amplified or attenuated.
However, with this combination of menu items today, all six types of tastes were completely independent in my mouth, not bothering anyone and not being bothered by anyone, and existing as distinct flavors. This is my biggest discovery of the day, and the fact that I learned that if I want to experience this again, I should use this combination, has given me tremendous happiness ^^.
Yes, I got carried away and wrote over 1000 characters. In short, to convey that something delicious is delicious, you need momentum and word count. Once you get to this point, you enter the realm of #WhatAreYouTalkingAbout (lol), so I'll put down my pen here for now.
Oh, it's definitely #WhatAreYouTalkingAbout, isn't it 😅
We are almost at the point where autumn is deepening.
Please make sure you don't catch a cold, and since autumn curry is delicious, please give it a try.
Today's menu is something you can eat anywhere, so I think anyone can enjoy it.
Oh, and for things like Mr. Worcestershire Sauce, please sneak your own personal sauce into your pocket and bring it with you (lol).
Now, what shall I try tomorrow?
