[Family Travelogue 2025] June Nagoya Trip - Day 1 Report

~Aiming for Ghibli Park & Legoland~

Hello, I'm Akane.
I run my own business in Kagoshima while raising two elementary school-aged daughters.

I live my life arrogantly, thinking, "I'll do everything I want to do!"
I'm also investing all my energy into making memories with my family.

This time, I'm writing down the record of the first day of our Nagoya trip in June 2025, partly as a personal memo.

Why does our family "travel in June"?

Our family has decided to go on a family trip every June.

The reason is simple.
• Winter is cold and increases the amount of luggage
• Summer is too hot and feels life-threatening
• Major holidays and summer vacations are too crowded...!

That's why June, which is a bit calmer, is the best time◎
Since it's the rainy season, there's a possibility of heavy rain, but I have the confidence that (I'm fine because I've been accumulating good deeds daily).

Our destination this time is "Nagoya"

The goals are,
• Ghibli Park
• Legoland

We planned a 4-day family trip centered around these two major themes!

[Day 1] Travel from Kagoshima to Nagoya

It was pouring rain in Kagoshima the moment I woke up in the morning☔️

Well, we were going to the airport by car, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem... but,
Due to this heavy rain, we made the painful mistake of everyone in the family forgetting their "hats"!

When we arrived in Nagoya, we bought hats at a 100-yen shop.
It's a small expense, but "avoidable expenses" are quietly frustrating.

The flight was delayed, as expected

The flight departed 20 minutes late.

According to my husband, who flies often for work,
"Lately, it's rarer for flights to leave on time."

It was the right decision to leave some buffer in our schedule this time too.
I shudder to think what would have happened if I had made plans with friends💦

Arrival in Nagoya → Off to the Pokémon Center!

After arriving at Centrair, we moved to the area around our hotel (about an hour).
We had no plans for this day, so we went to the Pokémon Center at Nagoya Parco!

The Nagoya-exclusive character is "Celebi"🌿
We couldn't get in on Saturday (Day 4) due to entry restrictions, so
it was quite lucky that we were able to get in on this day◎

Differences in "shopping styles" affect the trip

Second daughter → Instant decision type: "I want to buy it! Yes, I'll buy it!"
Eldest daughter → Deliberate type: "If I still want it later, I'll buy it then"

The eldest daughter said about the Pokémon goods, "It's only the first day, so I'll buy them on the last day if I have money left over." By the fourth day, we couldn't even get in...!

"The chance might not come again! Buy it if you think you want it"

This became a lesson for this trip.

Spending the first day relaxing at the hotel

Due to the fatigue of traveling, we checked into the hotel at 3:00 PM.
The rest of the time was for the family to lounge around and relax.

We didn't do anything special, but
I think "family trips" are great, including times like these.

Our family isn't the type to think 'we want to eat local specialties!' when we go on trips, so we bought dinner at a nearby supermarket and ate it in our hotel room.

Since we were in Nagoya, the deli section had things like tenmusu and miso katsu, which made me feel like I was really on a trip.
Well, I didn't want to eat anything unusual, so I bought takoyaki instead.

Next time preview: On to the 'Ghibli Park: Grand Warehouse Edition'!

On the second day, we finally head to the main event of this trip, infiltrating the **Ghibli Park 'Grand Warehouse'**!
- The gap I felt precisely because I'm from the countryside

- The choice to have a photographer accompany us on the trip
- The corner the kids got hooked on!?
