From the Carnival Street Corners - Letters from São Paulo
The massive parade floats known as 'floats' in English.
The people gathered there, known in Brazil as 'pipoca'—popcorn.
Standing still, and

waiting for the music.

The usual bus route transforms into a lively stage.

When the ground shakes from the surging energy,

the bright blue sky suddenly changes,
and a squall comes, turning everything into a white mist.

But everyone just has a great time with that, too.

The joy of street carnivals, Bloco - Bloco. This is the kind of city I live in.
And so, the carnival in São Paulo has come to an end.
Someone once described the Japanese concept of "wabi-sabi" in a single word using the Brazilian term:
"Carnaval - Carnival."
The deep sadness that lies at the heart of the Latin people; if you look only at that, it might be an apt description.
Saudade after the festival... From here, we live our daily lives for another year, waiting in anticipation for the extraordinary.
