[Response Poem] You Will Never Change

I was writing this as a response poem to that one, but the order ended up reversed.
I tried to delete it many times, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, and the feeling of not wanting to delete it grew stronger, so I decided to publish it. Please take a look if you'd like.

How could I ever forget you?
You are the support of my heart.

Because you would welcome me home,
Because you were waiting for me at home,
I was able to do my best every day.

Back when you were a puppy,
You hated being in your crate,
You'd climb up and jump around,
And broke your bone—I was so worried about you.

When I was eating my meal,
You would carry your food over,
And we would eat together, didn't we?

When I was under the kotatsu,
You would immediately come onto my lap,
Rest your head gently on my arm,
Close your eyes looking so comfortable,
And we would relax together, didn't we?

When it was time to sleep, you were always
In dreamland even earlier than me.
Barking in your sleep,
Snoring away,
What kind of dreams were you having?

You'd come right to me when I opened the door,
When I went for a walk,
When I did the laundry,
When I cleaned the house,
We were always, always together.

It won't change from here on out,
Not a single thing will change.
Even if I might not be able to see you,
Even if I might not be able to pet you,
We will be together forever.

The pain of your illness is gone,
You don't have to take that medicine you hated anymore,
You have a free and healthy body now,
And you will continue to live in my heart.

But just a little longer,
Because I want to keep touching you,
Because I want to keep feeling your warmth,

Please wait for me just a little bit.
When I come home,
Let's be together forever.

Until the time comes
When you live inside my heart.
