They say the world is made of kindness,
but I thought that was a phrase
only allowed to those who are wealthy.
They call it kindness,
but in reality,
there is so much pain and sadness.
Living life is hard.
There are times when I feel empty,
times when I feel sad,
and times when my heart is struggling just to keep up.
But try to think about the things
that support your life right now.
For example,
the water that comes out when you turn this faucet—
what kind of process did it go through
to reach this point?
Rain falls on the mountains.
It flows through rivers that someone managed.
It flows into a dam that someone built.
It reaches a water treatment plant that someone maintains,
where the impurities are removed.
It follows the pipes that someone laid,
and comes out of the faucet that someone installed.
As for the effort I put in,
it is just turning the faucet
and paying the water bill.
How convenient that is.
I wonder how many other things
there are like that.
If I were to perceive that as kindness,
how much richness
would I be able to feel?
Saying the world is made of kindness
is a phrase for the wealthy, I think.
But that is something
you can obtain depending on how you think.
Yes, today is rich, too.

is different for everyone, but
I think it might be richer
to find a lot of it
and receive a lot of it.
I have made it a habit
to look for kindness.
Somehow, just doing that
puts me in a good mood.
