38 years old. Poetry. I've started.
To sleep is not
to give up on today.
Things that didn't go well,
words I couldn't say,
chores I didn't finish,
it means entrusting them to the night for a while.
While putting my three children to sleep,
I resolve in my heart, "I definitely won't fall asleep today."
I haven't even hung up the laundry yet.
I haven't cleared the dishes either.
There are still so many things I want to do.
And yet,
surrounded by their small, rhythmic breathing,
before I know it, I'm asleep too.
I wake up in the middle of the night,
and hang the laundry in the dark room.
Looking at the dishes left in the sink,
I regret, "I fell asleep again..."
I should have been able to use my time better.
I couldn't do anything today either.
There are nights when I think like that.
Even so,
the satisfaction of the time spent
sleeping in the middle of my children is immense.
Small bodies snuggling up to me.
The sound of breathing against my cheek.
Sleeping faces full of peace.
Only during that time,
even if I don't accomplish anything,
I can feel the meaning of my being here.
Someday, the children
will sleep alone.
"Daddy, let's sleep together."
I won't be able to hear those words
someday either.
That's why, surely,
these days when I regret doing chores in the middle of the night,
looking back, I'll think of them as incredibly happy times.
I didn't just fall asleep.
Today, too, in the peace of my children,
I was able to sleep together with them.
When I think of it that way,
nights that don't go quite as planned
aren't so bad.
To sleep is not
to end today.
While feeling the warmth of a loved one,
it might be about
gently embracing the day that was today.
I read Puppuru-san's poem.
I dove in, deep, deep, deep...
As a result...
I don't understand poetry!!!! lol
But, it resonated in my heart, and the excitement of having found something new grew,
I want to try it.
I purely thought so.
Maybe it's impure.
Maybe it's not impure. lol
I don't know, but for now.
38 years old.
Poetry.
I've started.
Poetry,
apparently doesn't necessarily require difficult words or a fixed format.
What's important is,
not "what happened," but
putting into words "what you felt at that time."
In other words, poetry is,
I think, something that scoops up nameless emotions in your heart with words.
Isn't that interesting!
It seems like it requires some cultivation,
but for now, have fun!
Be yourself!
Just as you are!
From now on, little by little,
I think I'll try scooping them up with words.
