Beyond Picky Eating
It happened while I was having a meal with my child at a restaurant.
While looking at the menu,
when I suggested, "Why don't you try this?"
"Ugh, no way. I've never eaten that before."
That was the reply I got back.
It was a classic case of being a picky eater, and they are quite selective.
Of course, it's understandable to have likes and dislikes.
Even adults have things they don't like.
But I can't help but say it anyway.
"It might actually be really delicious, you know?"
Because even if there is something incredibly delicious right in front of you,
if you don't eat it, you will never know how good it tastes.
I feel like that's a bit of a waste.
If you try just one bite and think, "This is good."
It might even become your new favorite food.
That's why I usually say this:
"Just one bite is fine, why don't you try it?"
In the end, sometimes they don't eat it.
Sometimes it ends with just that one bite.
Even so, I still end up saying it.
"This is delicious. Give it a try."
Whether they eat it or not is up to the children.
But there are so many flavors in the world that we don't know yet.
The chance to discover them,
might unexpectedly be found in the dish right in front of us.
I believe that the dishes we encounter while traveling,
all surely start with that first bite.
