[ Can't remember even if I want to forget ]: Weekly Short-Short Note (Reading Surgery)
↑ I participated in this prompt [Reading Surgery].
It ended up being a bit of an unsettling ending 😊
It's a short-short story.

[ Can't remember even if I try to forget ]
Doctor, thank you very much.
Now I won't have to remember that book.
Because whenever I remembered that book, it was truly painful, so painful I couldn't stand it.
Even so, it's wonderful that you can forget a book you've read through surgery.
Thanks to you, I can't remember that book even if I try to.
Huh? Bakabon's Papa said the same thing?
I can't read manga.
I'm very interested, but I'm not good with panel layouts.
Wait, there's also a surgery to make it so you've read books you haven't, and it works for manga too?
That's convenient.
I'd love to binge-read something like "Glass Mask".
Well, I have read the novel version, though...
That's right, that's right.
I don't need that surgery.
Because I love reading books.
Reading them through surgery? That would be such a waste!
But, rarely, there are books I don't even want to remember.
That's why I often come here, but...
Huh? Come to think of it—
What was the name of the book you erased for me last time?
It wasn't the same book as this time, was it?
—Right?
The end.
