[Daily Life] A Story of Sweet Potatoes and Halloween
At the M78 household, right now,
there is a traffic jam of sweet potatoes.
Autumn treats
made with Shiho Nakashima's recipe
At this time of year, we receive gifts from all sorts of places,
and
what increases in our house are persimmons and sweet potatoes.
Mother Ultra is not very fond of that
"mushy" texture of persimmons, so
she is exclusively on sweet potato consumption duty.
When sweet potatoes start to pile up,
I make it a rule to make sweet potato treats every year.
I make them by looking at the 140-character recipe
by culinary expert Shiho Nakashima.
Peel one small sweet potato (250g), cut into bite-sized pieces, add enough milk to cover, boil until soft, and mash as is. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 an egg yolk, 20g of butter, and a pinch of cinnamon, then cook off the moisture until it becomes firm and shape it. Brush with the remaining egg yolk and bake in a 200-degree oven until browned.
At first, I wondered if I could really make them
with such a rough recipe??
But as I make them while looking at this every year,
I feel that it is an excellent recipe
that condenses everything necessary.
And yet, it's also interesting that
the result is a little different every year.
This year, I dared to make them in a "rock" style,
leaving them a bit more substantial.

Soon, he will bring home the sweet potatoes
he made in his children's group therapy,
so the wave of sweet potato treats is not over yet.
Autumn, the season of appetite, is the best!
Mother has the autumn of appetite, Taro has the autumn of art.
While Mother Ultra was
making sweet potato treats,
Taro was busily making a Steve mask
for the Halloween parade on Sunday.

On the morning of the following Sunday,
at an Aeon-affiliated shopping center
less than 10 minutes away by car from our house,
children will go around to specialty stores in their own costumes.
It seems they can even get some candy,
so Taro's excitement is skyrocketing ⤴︎
If you see a boy in a turquoise blue T-shirt and jeans,
wearing a Steve mask made of cardboard
and swinging a diamond sword,
that's Taro.
Now, I wonder if he'll finish it by Sunday?
