Dark Fantasy Horror Tale
While reading this book, my fingertips felt icy cold, and I felt a chill down my spine with every page I turned.
The 'slightly scary' world of the Zenitendo series has now plunged into 'true horror'.
Strange, Terrifying, Tengokuen
Mysterious Candy Store Zenitendo
Reiko Hiroshima (Author)
A spin-off work set in 'Tengokuen,' an amusement park run by 'Kaidou,' who appeared in the 'Mysterious Candy Store Zenitendo' series.
It depicts the terrifying experiences of six people invited by trial tickets to the amusement park distributed by Kaidou! Ferris wheels, roller coasters, merry-go-rounds—the attractions at Tengokuen seem like orthodox ones you might see at any amusement park at first glance. However, just as Beniko from Zenitendo says, 'It is best not to step foot inside,' a terrifying fate awaits at those attractions. 'Yodomi,' who became Beniko's rival in the Zenitendo series, also appears in Tengokuen. Entrusted with a sweets shop by Kaidou, Yodomi uses the know-how from her Tatari-me-do days to create and sell malice-filled candies.
The dark tone is stronger than in the Zenitendo series, and the target audience is set higher, so readers who have graduated from Zenitendo can also enjoy it.

✻Synopsis✻
Tengokuen, an amusement park managed by 'Kaidou'.
Six people who received 'trial tickets' from Kaidou are invited to what should be nothing more than ordinary attractions like Ferris wheels, roller coasters, and merry-go-rounds.
However, once they step inside, they realize in their bones the meaning of Beniko from Zenitendo's warning: 'Never go near it.'
Inside the park, Beniko's archenemy, 'Yodomi,' is working behind the scenes at a sweets shop.
The malice-filled candies Yodomi makes drag the hearts of those who eat them into darkness.
The six people experience 'horrors only they know' one after another, and begin to realize that the amusement park that should be fun is actually a meticulously laid trap—a story where anxiety and eeriness with no visible exit slowly close in.
◆Impressions◆
Kaidou is not just a prankster; he lets pure malice seep out little by little. The six people chosen by his hand all have their hidden fears and weaknesses seen through, and those are exposed by the attractions at Tengokuen.
What was particularly impressive was Yodomi's behind-the-scenes work.
Contrary to their fluffy and sweet appearance, the candies lined up in the sweets shop make you fall into a sensation where the world flips the moment you eat them.
I couldn't help but shudder, thinking, 'I would never want to put such candy in my mouth.'
The amusement park, which should be fun, gives no one an escape route and makes them taste despair thoroughly.
That was the 'aesthetic of evil' in this work.
Even after finishing it, the eerie lingering effect of the story remains in my heart for a long time.
This is no longer just a 'Zenitendo spin-off,' but a book that should be called a 'Dark Fantasy Horror Tale'.
While recalling the 'curiosity for scary things' from childhood, it is a work where the deep horror and bitterness that can only be tasted now that I am an adult slowly soak in.
